Registrations Costs in your state
I am currently in NY, just ordered a new MH. Planning on moving, somewhere. Curious what costs are in different states.
Was thinking of Nevada, but it looks the reg fees seem insane. Am I wrong?
What are your registration costs
A - Type, MH or TT
B- Registration costs - If including sales tax make a note of it
C- Does your state have Property tax on RVs

WA state:
2017 TT: all in, $40
2016 F250: all in, $100
2017 Explorer: $438
Some areas (mine) surrounding Seattle have a regional use tax that is factored in to licensing vehicles that have a factory GVW (not GVWR) of 6000 or less. It's based on the age of the vehicle as well. My old '11 F150 was close to $250 to license. The F250 weighs more....so it costs less.....weird?
WA also has very high fuel taxes.

In IL my annual registration of my TV $103, for a class B truck. This includes a $3.00 handling fee. Sales tax was paid once when my truck was purchased new 10 years ago.
My trailer has a annual fee of $53 a year which also includes a $3.00 handling fee.
No personnel property taxes or inspection fees on the trailer or TV.
A TV that is a class D vehicle does have higher tag fees and dose require a vehicle inspection.
RV'S are exempt from inspections.
Sales tax in IL is based on the county you live in as there are county sales taxes plus states sales taxes. There is also a document fees which very also. You would need to contact the DMV in the county you would like to live in.

When you purchase a motorhome in Georgia, or any other car or truck, non commercial, you pay an initial tax based on the sale cost. It can vary depending on your county but is usually very close to but slightly above the normal sales tax. After that you pay an annual tag fee of $20....regardless of vehicle value. The nice thing is if you buy a $150,000 motor home and have a trade in credit of $120,000 the onetime tax fee is only on the difference of $30,000.
The $20 tag fee is only for a motor driven vehicle. Fifth wheels and travel trailers pay a normal annual tax based on unit value. So, if you have a $50,000 fiver you’ll pay $300-$400 annually (don’t know the exact amount but within that range). If you have a million dollar plus motor home, you pay $20.00. That’s just the way it is. My five vehicles, including the MH, cost me $100.

I just bought a TT in NV, fees are based on a percentage of the MSRP.
Besides sales tax of 8.25%, DMV collected $1085 for 3 years of registration.
No income tax in NV means the tax man gets it elsewhere.
What I am paying has to be better than New York.
No personal property tax but there might be on boats and airplanes.

Residents 65 years of age or older are allowed 1 FREE registration of a non-commercial auto, pickup, motor home or motorcycle.
As of January 2017 all non commercial trailers in Anchorage are entitled to a permanent Z tab registration for a one time $35 fee.
(The State of Alaska has no Income Tax or Sale's Tax.)

Florida
Registration fee for Motor Home = $60 a year but for initial registration if you do not currently have a Florida license plate to transfer to this vehicle, you will pay a one-time fee of $225.00
Pickup trucks are based on weight. My F250 is $87 per year. If you own a GOAT Truck the registration fee is only $7.50
One time sales tax is 6% but may be higher depending on the county you live in. This is based on sales price minus any trade in
No property tax on vehicle, no state income tax and no vehicle inspection.

Legal if you file the correct paperwork through a business attorney. Where folks get in trouble is using a UPS or Mailboxes Etc. Notary.

Someone said that CA and NV are stopping people, when they see CA or NV licenses it causes issues. I have thought about this. If you do not want to post please feel free to send a message with any help
Thanks

That's a gross oversimplification. There are two jurisdictions in play: where you have set up your LLC/mailbox and where you actually live. Montana will call it legal as long as your company set up correctly and follow MT law. Same with SD. From that perspective, then the above is correct. Legal in the eyes where you have carefully set up your tax shelter.
The state where you live will likely have a completely different perspective on the legality of your actions. This article is 10 years old, but it tells a different side of the story. Again, nobody in MT has an issue and they'll tell you it's legal ... because it is ... in MT. MT has no interest in whether or not you're committing tax evasion in some other state. That's some other state's problem. Depending on the state, it could choose to then make it your problem.
