We pay $102/mo for gated secure spot in a Campground near us (5 mins). It is a gravel spot. The paved spots are something like $150/mo. My only complaint is that for 3/4 of the year our TT is hardly ever there!!

I eas paying $40.00 a month for outdoor storage unsecured on gravel for my 38' 5th Wheel for 5 years. Then the owner put in a couple hundred self storage units, and fenced in the lot with a security gate. After that my rent nearly doubled to $75.00 a month. This is in Grand Island, N.Y.

I agree. I think after the holidays, I will try to study the data it generates and analyze what the experience is out there. Calculate the range of rates for various type sites and try to come up with some averages for covered/non-covered, paved/unpaved, with power/without, geographical or urban/country, etc. So, please keep posting your experiences. I will post results on this thread after the holidays. In the meantime, Happy Holidays.

We keep ours in a underground storage facility, it's a huge complex. Besides RV storage there is office space, warehouse space, etc. There are several of these around KC MO. The room I'm in is about 85000 square feet. There's everything from pop ups to huge diesel pushers in there. I'm underground about 80 feet, It's humidity controlled and stays 60 degrees year round. No winterizing. Runs me $135 a month, but that is based on size. Smaller less, bigger more.

Had that in PA but was useless to me as they had a few fall dates to put it in and a few spring dates to pick up. NO access other than that.

Just have to give 24 hour notice of pickup and drop off, works year round.

Quick question: Can we assume that gravel and concrete are equally effective in reducing the risk of dry rot in our tires? That is, should we assume gravel and concrete are equally good as far as that issue is concerned? I know concrete is easier for maneuvering at times, but is there any other advantage than that?

We are fortunate to have acreage and built a large, covered building to store our boat and TT. My sister and BIL live in the DFW area. They pay $55 per month to store their TT. They have no amenities, only the gate is locked at night. The only thing this place has going for it is the price. My brother recently ordered a Casita; scheduled to take delivery mid-January. He rented a place in the Waco area for $140 per month. Gated, security, paved with electricity and water.

We are paying $90/mo for a place to park it in Woodinville WA. No utilities, no cover, no gate, there is concrete. There is supposed to be a video camera on the goods.

I could not imagine shelling out hundreds of dollars every month just for storage! It's already a money sink between rising campground rates, out of state non-resident fees, knick-knacks, tools, supplies, etc.

We pay $150 for 6 MONTHS!! non-covered but fenced/gated crushed rock lot. That's only $25 a month, but I can't imagine paying too much more than that.

I pay $550 or about $46 per month for a year at a local campground $50 if it's month to month the campground is gated and the storage area is fenced in no water or electric.

Am I right that gravel is as good as concrete in terms of preservation of tires?

I would still place 2"X8" boards over the grave surfaces and under your tires. Why? Water can pool on the gravel surface just like mud and this will lead to tire deterioration. I have found that gravel sites over time will sink in the tire area do to compaction of the gravel allowing water to pool in this low spot.

So, above the gravel surfaces boards will spread the loading of the trailer weight out over a larger area. Thus preventing compaction of the gravel and will also raising the tires up the board thickness over the gravel surface.

Wood is cheap to compare to replacing the tires on a trailer.

Rising RV storage rates

Are you in a country or urban setting? Do you have access to the facility throughout the year?

I am not doubting you but your profile says Tennessee...

DFW area storage cost

We pay $179/month for covered parking. Lot has secured entrance, 30amp service and a dumpstation. Soon to add a wash station. Parking is on gravel (even under the covered spots). Seemed high at first, but we like the added protection of the covered spot (lots of hail here in DFW) and the 30amp service. When we move up from our 30ft TT to our new 5er, we're going to have to change spots here and I'm just hoping they'll have a spot on the 45ft parking side available.

The address you see is for mail forwarding. If you put it in Google Maps you'll find it's the Air Operations Center for FedEx. I actually live in Hong Kong for another year. Our house I refer to is in Monument, Colorado, currently rented out while we're overseas, but it's our future home. Renovations in preparation for retirement begin in the spring. Hope that satisfies your doubts.
