RV insurance- keep an eye on your rate

My home/auto/RV insurance is nearing the annual renewal time.
As per usual we get a statement -this is not a bill- from them but it does show what it's going to cost when the bill does show up next month.
As usual it's going up.

One thing that pulls my chain is the trailer coverage. We are supposed to tell the agent what we think our trailer is worth but he admits if the trailer is totaled the main company will set what they are willing to pay! I asked him what they would pay if it happened today and he didn't know!!
I'm probably going to shop for a new agent but honestly I think we have the lowest rate I can find already.

So just a warning- don't forget to lower the value of your rig every year because they are definitely going to lower what they will pay you if it's totaled.

I know some of you have total replacement insurance but our rig is going on 4 years old so that door is closed. We're on the sliding scale and it's sliding down!

You should be able to get five years of replacement coverage and then try agreed value. Last month my renewal for RV insurance and auto insurance had the RV, 2018 Cardinal 3825 FL going up almost $2,000 per year with Good Sam, American General. I ended up with Progressive at $900 per year less for same coverage! Someone on this forum recently reported that Progressive had been easy to work with during a claim that the recently had. As for auto insurance I thought I would try the AARP because I thought they may be competitive and they promise not to drop you? I think it was Hartford? They were $900 more per year!. I ended up staying with Elephant as they were the cheapest and I like the fact that they give one year policies. Good Luck
