Stove Cover OEM or Camco

I would like to purchase a cover for the Atwood 3 burner range in out Avenger 26BH. The OEM cover looks nice and I'm sure it fits nice but is more expensive than the Camco universal cover that Amazon and my RV dealer has on the shelf. I have seen on here that some prefer to use a cutting board, but I would prefer to have an attached folding cover. Anyone have personal experience with these covers they would like to share?

We had both and the DW prefers the wooden cutting board. It gives her more counter space when the board is on the burners.

I'm one of the few people that like the OME cover. It's not heavy duty but works well for my style of camping & cooking. It folds out of the way for cooking but might be in the way a little bit for large pots & pans. Since I camp solo I can get away with putting larger pots on the front burner easily. I like to let the burners cool down before closing the cover.

However, I can also see where others could get more use out of the wooden cutting board type.

We're on our 2nd TT and on both I removed the OEM cover and put nothing in it's place. DW likes the ability to just use the stove without messing with a cover/cutting board etc. Plus when we trade the unit in it has a nice new cover on the stove. As for counter space our 2604 has an add-on extension if needed, and she uses the dinning table also. Last spring she made strawberry freezer jam in the TT with no problem.

The problem I see with the cutting board method is, where do I put it when the stove is in use? With the folding cover it self stores. I'm not looking for a heavy duty work surface, only a place to set dishes to dry.

We have used both and I cant think of anything that makes one better over the other. I installed the Camco Universal in a Class C motorhome we had a few years ago. It installed easily with a few screws, seemed solid (didnt noticably rattle) and worked well for added counter space. We sold the Class C for a new trailer and had the dealer put on the OEM cover. It seems basically the same and also works well. We do most of our cooking outside so we like the added counter space for drying dishes, etc.

If looking only for a place to set dishes to dry, we found a small dish drainer that fits in the sink perfectly. For that matter we sometimes just set the dish drainer right on the stove, I mean it's metal so water won't hurt it.

Yes I have a personal to share. Every new RV unit we buy the First thing to GO is the Thin sheet metal bi-fold piece of crap. I dont keep the covers,I place them beside the dumpsters at the campground. I always make a Nice wood cutting board cover for the stove. Youroo!!

We put the folding metal cover on our stove top. I made a cutting board which fits the sink and over the metal stove cover, does double duty. Draining dishes and having water drops on the metal cover is just asking for rust at some point. The hinge is one spot where it will happen very quickly and if there is a scratch or other ding in the painted surface, presto, another rust spot.
