Sasch, I'm curious abiut your Westunghouse 2200 and Micro aire easy start setup. I have an older Yamaha 2000 EF that will not start my 13..5 a/c.. Been considering getting another newer Yamaha 2000 and paralleling them, but cost is $820. Your setup would be alot cheaper. Can you elaborate on how well the westinghouse plus the easy start works? Will it start every time? Does it run full blast or does it drop to economy mode after starting? Fuel usage? Thanks Ed

Edsana, There is a really good chance if you install a Micro-air easy start on your AC unit your existing Yamaha 2000 EF will run your AC. I'll note a link for Micro-air below. as for my set up recently with 90 deg weather, Ref on auto (running on elec not gas) the Westinghouse overloaded (and note I'm running a 15... AC). I switched the fridge to gas and never had another problem. It does not drop to econ mode unless the AC compressor cycles off leaving fan only running. A full tank will get me thru the night but normally haven't needed the AC all night and running Max-air fans off my battery most of the time. The Westinghouse has started every time with one or two easy pulls but do note I using Recreation gas (100% gasoline only, no ethanol and start it at least once every 1-3 months. Hope this helps.

Heads up and an observation....
The Sams Club Westinghouse 2200i sale starts Saturday Aug 1 and is one week only.
Lots of folks recommend the Micro Air 364 soft start kit in order to be able to run a roof AC off one smaller generator.
My observation is the Micro Air kit costs $299 which is the same amount as a 2nd Westinghouse genny! Wow how can the soft start capacitor cost THAT much??
Are there any alternatives to the Micro Air??

Well, the SUPCO SPP6 is only $13.52 with free shipping. Is that better? Here's an Amazon review of it:

I bought this because I have a 1800 watt ryobi inverter generator. Every time the a/c would turn on in the camper the circuit breaker would trip this is not cool. I don't want to keep the auto idle off I want the auto idle on to save fuel and not be too loud. I installed this hard start capacitor to the roof to a/c compressor. I can now have auto idle on when the a/c turns on and trip the circuit breaker the gennie. Best thing anyone can do to a camper a/c unit.

I have not used this product, but had VERY positive experiences with another SUPCO product. In the last couple of decades residential refrigerator manufacturers have eliminated the capacitor for the compressor motor to save a buck. They do something tricky with the windings to get the phase shift. After a decade the compressor stops running. If you let a serviceman look at it, he will tell you to buy a new refrigerator. A few servicemen may install the Supco unit for this application and tell you to buy another unit within six months because your refrigerator is failing. One serviceman in a thousand might admit that the capacitor was eliminated and installing the Supco will extend the life of your refrigerator indefinitely. I put the Supco in my 1995 refrigerator in 2005 and it's still working just fine.
