Westinghouse Generator 2500/2200 for $399 at Sam's Club

Occasionally you'll see $200 off deals like this, and finally it came!! Normally $599. 400 bucks is a great deal for a 2500/2200 generator.

That is an inverter type right?

I picked up a champion 4500 the other day, non-inverter type for like $350 from cabelas, but I think I’ve seen them cheaper at tractor supply.

Runs my trailer just fine including the AC. Pretty nice in that it’s small enough to fit under my hardtop tonneau cover and I can lift it up there myself if I need to.

Yes it's an inverter type. I looked up the Champion 4500, don't think I can pick it up without some struggling (97lbs empty) and it won't fit my tiny TT. But yeah it's a great price for a home backup, I may buy this for the house.

Great Deal. I got mine at Lowes in May.

Westinghouse iGen 2500-Watt Inverter Gasoline Portable Generator - Lowes.com $399
$399.00

Plus another 10% Military. Sweet indeed.

We have used it once while boondocking and 2x at home. It will run our 15K Air Unit no problem.

How is it working out for you.

Do you have a soft start on your 15k AC for the Westinghouse 2500W inverter generator to be able to start and run your AC?

Nope no soft start. I turn on the fan first on low. Wait a minute then start the Air. It chugs for a second and powers it up fine. I have a Volt Meter permanently mounted to a kitchen outlet and watch it as it starts. It definitely takes a hit. But that is normal and then back to 120.

Of course I cannot run the microwave and such. The 12 VDC refrigerator runs fine powered by the converter. TV works and we can make margaritas in the blender. Life is good.

You lucked out with the power demand. I bought a Westinghouse 2200 ixlt about 4 years ago but unfortunately will not start my 13500 AC no matter what I do. It's a powerful and very quiet inverter but wouldn't do the job so I purchased the Westinghouse igen 4200 and it Powers everything in the RV at the same time, no problems! So now I'll just keep the Westinghouse 2200 on those winter days when I just need extra power or to charge up batteries. Does Westinghouse generators have proven over the years to be very good.

I'm sure you know but in case others are reading about NON-inverter generators... NONE of them meet the noise level (DB) requirements for use in a campground.

Sounds like a winner. Must be pretty heavy though. I have enough heavy stuff I have to yank out of the back of the truck. The Generator, an E-bike. I am getting too old, or at least my back is.

Yes, that is a good deal on a very good midsized inverter generator. We bought one when it 1st came out, about 3 years ago, and are very happy with it. We sold our old 4000watt it was too big and too heavy. Not the quietest, but reasonable. I like the extra 300 to 500 watts over the average 2000/1800 or 2200/2000 watt unit. We mostly camp in the mountains and rarely feel the need for AC when no hook ups.

We went with the Champion 3400 Inverter with the key fob start. Had the next door neighbor fabricate a generator box for the rear receiver of our Rockwood TT. I can run both the 13.5 AC and the 15 AC, but there is a trick. First I installed a Micro-air Soft Start on the 13.5 AC. It previously measured a 38 amp start, now it measures a 12 amp and settles at 11 amps. I do not have one on the 15 AC.

To run both on the generator, I start the 15 AC first and allow it to run for about 5 minutes. Then I start the 13.5 AC with the Micro-air Soft Start. The Champion gen runs them both with no problem.

There is another version of similar crane that slips into your trailer hitch. I use one for hunting but it works perfect to lift things into back of truck without poking thru your cover))

I found the one that mnoland30 was talking about. It is actually not too bad. I don't see the hitch model there.

Thanks to both of you.

I got mine at Princess Auto in Canada, but eBay is another source. Just handy because no drilling into deck required.

I've been looking at several inverter generators. I'm recovering from a stroke and my left arm and leg are weak, so I can't lift a heavy gen. I narrowed it down to a Wen 2350 Watt 2 yr. warranty 39 lbs $427 Walmart & Lowes. A Westinghouse igen 2500 Watt 3 yr. warranty 46.3 lb. $429 Amazon. I'll check Lowes I get a military discount. I have a Supco Super Boost SPP6 that I'm going to have installed. I think I'll go with the WestingHouse, My right arm is in good shape so I think I can handle the weight for a quick lift up and down. I hope with that setup and letting the A/C fan run on low speed before I switch to Low A/C it will handle the load of my 13.5 A/C

I had a Powerhouse 2700 inverter gen and it would not power my dometic 13.5 AC with Supco Super Boost hard start cap SPP6E. Sometime it would start it if every single device was turned off. Not practical at all. I switched out to a champion 3400 inverter which runs mostly everything.

Edit. Maybe a soft start might be your better option to install.

The Champion is 80 lbs without fuel and oil. Too heavy, I can't take any risk of falling down and getting hurt! The Westinghouse igen 2500 isn't available now at Lowes. I'l get two 2350 Wens and run in parallel if I need more power Captain! More Dilithium crystals!
