Bought my present TT in late 2018. In addition to a $50 certificate I traded a 30 amp extension cord from my trade in for a 50 amp extension cord needed for the new TT. Dealer gave me his actual retail cost for a 30 amp extension cord towards the cost of the 50 amp. He also gave me $25 off the listed retail for a surge protector. All in all a good deal. While looking around at Class C's earlier this month other dealers offered 10 gallons of gas good at a designated station and $25 store credit. That's it. My how times have changed

We recently traded our 2019 HW for a 2023 206STSE. Out of all the extra goodies we received, I was impressed most with the "exterior" Water Filter they gave us. Also the installed Battery Cut-Off Switch was a great perk too.

I was more than tickled NOT seeing, and dealing with, an inline water filter. I would have bypassed it eventually. I did the bypass on the HW as well.

Dealers use to give a starter kit. I’ve been given several. I was never given any electrical adaptors. Usually, a cheap water and sewer hose, a package of black tank treatment, etc). You aren’t missing much as I have always replaced these items with better quality stuff.

Things I have received with each of the last 3 I have bought are: 4 pack toilet paper, 25’ white potable water hose, 10’ sewer hose (light weight), 4 pack black tank treatment, 30 to 15 adapter, 50 to 30 dog bone, bottle of RV wash & wax, sponge all in a 5 gallon bucket. They call it a starter pack.

Starter kit. Water hose, cheap 10 foot sewer hose, good 30 amp shore line, some chemicals, fire extinguisher.
If you buy from camping world, the salesman takes you through the store and lets you know what you need to buy.

When we purchased our 2018 Isata 3 from Lazydays we received a two-night get familiar with your RV at their KOA in Tucson without cost to us. This to season new RVers to the world of the RV lifestyle. It was well worth the two days although the real lessons of RVing lay ahead. The remainder was on us for cost of sewer hoses, connectors, black tank throw-in pads, TP, etc. They were available if we had any problems which was a plus during those two days.

I can't complain for this as they also provided a Thousand Island + Encore RV park two-week total days at no cost ( I am sure there were caveats for this) . We never used the extra benefit as we quite honestly wanted to seek out Forest Service/State/COE/BLM sites as a first priority. Not sure how things would be now and as others have mentioned there are virtually no free lunches in this world anymore.

The best part of those starter kits is the 5 gal bucket they come in.

Nobody "gives" you anything. Certainly nothing comes free from any RV factory. The last dealer handed me a certificate for $50 off in their parts department, which I found comical after I just paid them $150K for an RV.

It's better anyway because you would be stuck with whatever the cheapest hose or cord they could find. If this is your first-ever RV you might not know what to buy, but we have several hoses, cords, and way too much stuff that we just took out of our last RV.

The adapters are not normally things any dealer would include. They are 'sometimes use, if needed' options. We still use our cord and water hose. Ran out of the chemicals. The sewer hose was replaced right way.

Covid was just a convenient excuse.

5 gal buckets are weird for me. I've acquired several over my lifetime but I don't remember actually purchasing a single one.

I simply can't remember a time in my life where I've gone into a store and decided "I need a brand-new bucket". Then picked one out, put it in my cart and took it to the checkout to pay for it.

Somehow they keep appearing in my garage and shed though...

Yep, never actually bought a 5 gallon bucket. Places like Lowes, Home Depot, Harbor Freight and Ace hardware give them away during some of their sales. Of course you have to BUY the lids.

I always recommend first time buyers get the "starter kit" even if they have to pay a little extra for it. We all know most of the kit is bottom shelf or even junk but what's in it will get first timers thru their first few camping trips and give them enough experience to buy more suitable items in the future.

When we bought our 2906WS and we both agreed on the price and it was time to print up the sales agreement is when I spoke up and said "I want 2 of their camping chairs thrown in on the deal also and then I will sign". Walked out with a new camper and two new camping chairs.

It really depends on dealer. When we looked one dealer offered the equalizer hitch and adjustment, but no other accessories except $100 credit at their shop. Another dealer offered hoses, but wanted to charge $900 to sell and set up the same exact hitch. That dealer also charged a higher price if you wanted to just buy the camper outright instead of financing.

No, just no. Using that sewer hose that you have to attach with a screw clamp on the dump valve end and that has no elbow on the sewer end will do nothing but cause a lot of grief for a newbie. This is the low-end hose that came with my first trailer. I knew better than to use it, but many don't. I got a Rhino Extreme and have never had any dumping issues with it. You're much better off getting quality gear for water, sewer and electrical.

Throw is one away...

$100.00 gift certificate to their parts store. Picked up a few things including a Valterra dog bone and camco adapter. The certificate at least allowed me to pick up a few items that I actually needed, and of acceptable quality. I believe I paid 25-50 percent more than if I purchased from a local big box or on-line.
