What do the numbers and letters mean?

I've been RVing for over 10 years and have never found out what the numbers and letters on TTs mean. I haven't found out because I haven't really cared. I'm now thinking of buying a used RV and now I care. I've always thought the first two numbers were the length of the trailer excluding the tongue, but that doesn't seem to always be the case. Is there a system or is it just random?

Generally on bumper pull RV's the numbers are the length of the box outside to outside. On fifth wheels they're the length of the box inside front to back.

The letters can mean different things. I think there's a thread (or post) here that guesses at some of them.
For Instance;
BH, usually means Bunk House
RK, usually means Rear Kitchen
SS Usually means Super Slide
Ad Nauseum.

As far as i know pretty random

- some manufacturers use numbers to denote box length in feet, while others include the tongue
- The letters refer to layouts and usually make sense (I have a Coachman Clipper 17FQ - 17' box Front Queen)

FQ - Front Queen
FQS - Front Queen Slide
FQM - Front Queen Murphy
RB - Rear Bunk
RK - Rear Kitchen
FK - Front kitchen
FBS - Front Bed Slide
etc etc etc

Our old trailer was a 231RKXL.
Rear Kitchen Xtra Lite
The 231 had no relationship to the 25' box or 28' total length.

Mine is a CC 34 RE. It is 37’ long.

I think it is like ammunition. Made sense the day they did it. To someone.

My Cattleman special will work with, 38 short, 38, 38 special, 357, 380, 9mm, and more. It was sold as a 357 mag.

In my case RB means rear bath. My 192RBS is rear bath with slide. My KZ 130RBSE is rear bath sportsman edition.

The Cougar 24SABWE I'm looking at getting is side aisle bath western edition. The western edition has much larger holding tanks (76/38) due to westerners doing a lot more boondocking/dry camping. The eastern edition (24SAB) doesn't seem to be in production any longer, but they only had 30 gallon holding tanks, presumably because most easterners go to RV parks with hookups.

Thanks for the replies. Evidently, the numbers and letters mean whatever the manufacture wants them to mean. I liked the reply "made sense the day they did it". I won't worry about it anymore.

Ours is a 36qbok. Not sure what the 36 stand for but I think the QBOK = quad bunk, outdoor kitchen.

There's also a TBOK which would be triple bunks, outdoor kitchen.

I think they ask the newest worker to come up with something random, perhaps his high school grades and girlfriend's initials.

Flagstaff 21DS

21ft and Damn Sweet, err Dinette Slide or Deep Slide or something like that. But the Rockwood equivalent is 2104S, so 21 ft and Slide, not sure about the 04. Would have to compare the other Rockwood models to figure out

Wondering

30RLBS with 2 slides. 30 would be living space since she is 35 feet long. RL must be rear living room. BS would be bedroom slide. Sound about right.

We own a ck33ts that is 39' long. The letters really just identify the unit. I think the numbers mean how many times it took to get thru quality control.

CK should mean Center Kitchen. Not sure about the TS.

Ours is a 26FKWS. I think that is box is about 26 feet, front kitchen, wardrobe slide (in the rear bedroom). Nose to tail we are about 30 feet.

Someone on here once said that some numbers mean total square footage of living space. That's what my model numbers mean, according to that person.
