I was just out in Indiana last week and most manufactures as been already said here are waiting on parts to complete builds, went past a few factories and saw lots of units built waiting on windows, heard a/c units are in short supply. Let's hope they can get caught up soon.

Due to their self contained nature, RVs are in high demand right now.

I'd drive my entire outfit to Alaska and deliver it to a buyer for 100K. Perfect truck and camper with tons of upgrades and everything works perfectly. A lot better than getting a brand new rig with all the associated delays and problems.

Familiar Story

Your story is in keeping with others I've read of in the RV industry, and in our economy as a whole - unfortunately! It would have been nice and better service to you if the dealer candidly told you the delivery time could extend weeks, and perhaps months, beyond the typical expectation. But they evidently did not do that. If it's any consolation at all, at least your order is now "in the cue" but I truly hope your wait is not extended such that the delay cancels your pending trips. Keep the faith!

Delays are also due to supply chain issues in RV components. Also, I've heard some dealers are raising the price of the unit after the contract is signed because the contract language allows for that. Good luck with your purchase and be patient, calm and in control. Owning a RV is a lesson in frustration tolerance!

So I drove past 3 dealers today in Mn, I would say all three had at least 50-75 campers on their lots.
I stopped in one to snoop and ask him about shortages, he confirmed they exist but ask me which one I wanted to take home on his lot.??

The COVID is for real . I deliver campers from the factory to Camping World. Forrest River has had a shortage on parts . They have a lot full of new campers waiting on Air Conditioners or other items.

I know how you feel. And it is due to covid. We also purchased a new fifth wheel rv ( 284 Chaparral lite) in June. The fire place didn't work and the couch that makes into a bed was leaning down in the back ( needed parts) we just got our rv back fixed, I hope On Oct.12th. Our rv dealers here in South East Missouri have very little inventory. I wish you luck.

I am in the transportation and freight business . Trust me every business is affected by the pandemic. I also own a camper and need parts desperately., I have had a door on order for 2 months....still waiting.

After reading the first sentence, my first thought was "COVID strikes again." Absolutely it's reasonable that it is COVID-related. As a retired supply chain specialist, I can assure you there are probably thousands of parts required to build a motorhome, literally procured from all over the world. Just as a comparison, my son brought his 4-wheeler in for repairs back in April, and he still doesn't have it back .... because of COVID.

If their business is like a lot of other businesses, parts maybe hard to come by.

I will say its true. We purchased our 5th wheel at the end of July and well and I was just informed today it is coming off this Saturday. Was supposed to be offline 10.5 but due to window shortage was my delay.

I can believe it as I work in New home construction and window manufacturing is way behind for new homes some builders are being told windows won't be available till January. Granted this was just one manufacturer vs the majority. From my understanding windows are holding a lot of units up. Current lead time on windows for new home construction is 6-8 weeks from order placement till window delivery. Would guess that windows for RV units are roughly about that as well.

You could be charitable, but the dealers know things are backed up. Nonetheless, they promise unrealistic delivery dates and lock you in with a deposit. They also tell you that your Prius can handle that 25' camper. But I'm skeptical of a lot of salesmen.

Wait time

We ordered our Rockwood 2204S on July 2nd... took delivery on Oct 10th... It's no BS...

1. - Delay on components

2. - They BATCH through runs... so, If they just finished your model run.. you have to wait until the next run... This can give you months of delay.

3. - I'd rather wait (which I did) than to get to anxious.. It all works out in the end.

Was recently shopping. All brands Looking for anything that met our criteria. Almost all dealerships were out of stock of everything. Had a model or two to show that DIDNT match our criteria.
Anything we wanted was going to be a minimum of six weeks for delivery; and this was at rather large dealerships in Texas mind you.
Finally found a WW 273qbxl available and jumped on it. First camper ever. May or may not be our last. We will see how this family hobby pans out for our lifestyle. Either way, if you find what you want available you gotta get it these days or endure what you are going through...the dreaded wait time.

Not BS by the way. Some dealerships were straight up honest and said it could take a couple months; have you looked for a used one? Haha. Coming from a dealership that proves to me they are hurting for inventory.

Probably Truth

I wrecked my fifth wheel and had to take it in for repair and they had it for two months. They also said problem with getting parts due to Covid-19, so with your problem, I think its true.

No BS

Talked to an RV store owner and he said he had units being delayed for a variety of components due to all the covid issues.I know it's not making your situation better though.By the way we own a 2017 25fks and have really enjoyed it.

It's the same with other industries as well. I'm a general contractor and depending on the item, we are waiting 3 to 4 times the typical wait time.
We ordered a Rockwood Ultra Lite 7 weeks ago, was told it would be delivered in 6 to 8 weeks. Just found out it won't even be built till November 17th and we can take delivery December 18th....due to parts shortages.
This COVID is some debilating stuff inmore ways than just medical issues.
Oh well, still have the Mini Lite till the new one shows.
