what warranty do you have?

Have seen lots of comments in other threads about warranties. Either the FR extended warranty or other warranties. Since I just purchased a new 5th wheel, I was wondering if any are worth purchasing. What warranty do you have? Have you used it for any repairs? Are you pleased with the coverage it supplies? Cost? Thanks for your input.

i would never buy an extended RV warranty, unless it was a used unit.

most things with a new RV, should show up in the first two years. that's why i was fine with adding the FR 2nd year warranty only.

X2. For the cost Forest Rivers 2nd year warranty is a no brainer.

That one pretty much is a no brainer for the price. Hoping to get some good feedback from other warranties. Being a mechanic for over 25 years and handy with most type of repairs, I don't know if any extra warranty is worth it for me, other than cost of materials if a major component failed.

I got the dealer one, only because it was thrown in free as part of a show deal.

Otherwise I would have gone with FR's.

We purchased a 5 year extended warranty on our last 2 units. If the warranty is not used we get all the money back except $200.00 bux. Yes they honor the money return as we got it back on the 1st unit when we traded it and I see no reason why we won't on the current one in another 2 years if we don't use it. IMO it was worth the 1800.00 but everyone has didderent opinions on these thing.

Purchased 7-year warranty through Wholesale Warranties on my Forester 3051S. I purchased the $500 deductible plan for $2400 USD and they threw in another year of Coach Net to sweeten the deal!

My thoughts was to purchase a plan that would cover catastrophic failures that would otherwise not be covered when the original warranties expire. Most ESP insurance companies will increase their rates if you purchase when the coach is over 2-years old. They also will not cover any preexisting conditions they might develop during the first 2-years of ownership (catch 22).

As mentioned by others, an ESP is not for everyone. I've owned many RVs along the way and haven't had one yet that hasn't had a major repair. I don't have a problem paying for anything under $500 USD that happens to break along the way but paying for a full slide motor replacement would very expensive.

I guess everyone knows that FR does not offer extend warranty on driveable RV so if you want one you have to go to third party company. I too own a 3051s ( 2014 model ) and already items are breaking down, so I am looking for extended warranty. I am leaning towards FCPP company any thoughts ?

to clarify, the FR 2nd year factory warranty is only available on towables and only available on original FR brands and Palomino.

it is not available for the newer FR acquisitions: Dynamax, Prime Time, Shasta, Viking, Coachmen. Prime Time does have their own 2 yr. warranty on just their Sanibel products.

Bought the extended warranty from the dealer, was better and cheaper than FR. I bought it for the life of the loan +1. 5 years. I figure bout then I might want a new trailer.

How could an extended warranty/service contract be lower then the $150 from Forest River for the second year? When I looked into one it was way to much money and I couldn't find one that covers frames or delamination, which are the expensive things to fix. I can afford to replace the ACs or other appliances and it seem that was about all that the Good Sam policy covered.

By being free. I don't know if it covers frame or delam, but since the dealer offered it as part of a "Opening day of our big RV show" promotion, I'm gonna take it.

We bought the FR 2nd yr for $150.00. Delam and frame could be expensive, not sure if those other extended would cover those. Minor stuff I can take care of tho FR would and does cover that cost too.

some things are cheaper to fix yourself than what the fuel costs to tow it to the dealer

My one year is up in May, can you purchase the second year thru FR only from day one or anytime you like? At $150 that is definitely worth the buck if you ask me!

FR usually allows for a month or two late, after the purchase but i don't know about a whole year late.
you can give it a try but i doubt that they will, this late in the game.

I'll give it a try and see what happens. The dealer didn't even offer an extended warranty to me when I purchased the trailer!

that's why forums like this one, are important for people to join BEFORE they purchase a RV.
