Remember though they have limlted locations and depending on luck of the draw you may have complications with your new unit which could be hard to resolve with a distant dealer. And as has been said some local dealers will not repair a unit they didnt sell. Again I would use them for at least a price point that you could use in talking to the dealer. Out of curiosity what are you looking at?
Forester 2401W

I hate that dealer scare tactic, I think it's total BS... for instance, what if I just moved here.... What if I lived in Wisconsin, bought an rv, then moved to Texas for a new job 6 months later, you're gonna tell me you won't service the brand you sell?? I don't think so, and I don't think you want me in the ear of Forest River over it, cause I'm squeaky

I used RVDirect and got about 40% off MSRP October 2014 on a 2015 model.

You may want to, also, check prices at that big place in Dallas, Motor Home Specialist RV.

They claim discounts up to 40% off MSRP...if it's lower see if the dealer you want to buy it from will match or beat it.. (When I bought my last Toyota, I got two dealerships in a bidding war for my business...got my wife's Corolla very cheap.)

Texas RV Dealer, Used RVs for sale, motorhome sales, new RVs

Sweet I hope you loaded all the options. Love the 2400w the full wall slide looks like it opens up the whole living area. Nice that you got to look at one so far there hasnt been any I've found around here. Bought my 2650s with most of the bells and whistles after finding one lone 2651s in Connecticut

I for sure like the color of the one in Dallas more than from RV wholesalers, but it's quite a savings... especially if you finance with them.

I too am an RV Direct buyer. Got both of my units from them. It was a great and painless experience. I am sold on them and would not buy from a retailer unless I had too. I prefer the wholesalers.

As was stated, I saved over 1/3 off MSRP. I love saving money.

Vin.

This past Friday I purchased a 2016 Prime Time Crusader 315RST Touring Edition 5er with a MSRP of $53,054 for $31,500 which is a 41% discount. Maybe the dealer just wanted to move the unit. As a rule of thumb I have always heard don't settle for less than 33% off. There is a tremendous markup in RV's.
Good Luck and remember it's not personal it's just business push on!!

I did an Internet search for the unit that I wanted (2015 Solera 24R). Prices vary tremendously across the country. Turns out the best price was from my local dealer, DeMartini in Grass Valley, Ca. Advantage to a local dealer is for warranty service. So I feel I really lucked out having a local dealer with good pricing and great service.

RV Direct definately is real. Very happy with the money saved. In addition we saved over $7k in sales tax by setting up a LLC in Montana. Reduced yearly registration fees also. Would you rather pay unfair taxes to greedy bureaucrats, or take a sweet all expenses round trip to europe for 2? hmmmmmmmm.....Only problem is that you have to pay cash as financing a Montana LLC is next to impossible, and not worth thr hassle.

Saw your post also in Forester subforum. 'Solera' is the right place for 2401W. Glad you found it.
I have owned a 2401W for about two months and am very happy with it. I also initially worked with RV Direct and got quote, but a nearby dealer came through with a price very close and I bought local.
Here are some threads on the W floorplan:

As I was trying to get across being a smart consumer and knowing where the baseline pricing is doesnt hurt. RVW and RVone sell short and still make a profit. Your dealer may chose to order or sell you a unit close to that price or not. He'll probably figure to make some money back on things you'll buy in his store or seasonal work like winterizing, adding vent covers and the like. It doesnt hurt to look around for independent rv repair stations now just to reassure yourself if problems arise

Thanks for all the tips. My outside finance guy said no problem, go get what you want, so now it's just price negotiation.

I just bought a 2015 Micro Lite 19 FD for 34% off of MSRP, but none of tht matters if the blue book is upside down.
I still feel like they inflate the prices beyond blue book to discount and make us feel like we won.
I am happy with my deal and I am driving 500 miles next week to pick it up with a $7,112.00 savings.

Send a message via Skype™ to stillontheroad
Take your time. "Walk out the door" at least one more time. They will call. Or take off another another 2 or 3,000 and say "this is what I can pay you can make it happen".
