EGR nightmare

We have a Solera. We were in eastern Washington when the vehicle went into LIMP mode (new vocabulary for us).
Long story short - we limped into a Mercedes dealer, they supposedly fixed it. One hundred miles later (on the way home) it happened again.
We can't seem to find ANYONE who is with in a decent driving distance to fix it.

This is dangerous. It's freeway in every direction to a dealer, and a fair distance.

What are people doing about this situation?
Is it possible to get a traveling repair person to fix it?

Suggestions?

I would try getting an obd2 scanner that is compatible with your vehicle. Read out and record the fault codes. Then tell the scanner to delete them. This MAY get you out of Limp mode and allow you to drive the vehicle to a dealer (back to the guy who “fixed” it?).
Disconnecting the chassis battery (located inconveniently under the driver side floor) and waiting a while MAY also reset the codes, but you won’t have a record of them.
Note, I say these techniques MAY help. They also may not…
Good luck-
Jim
