Is the Solera still made

Is Forest River making the Solera anymore?

No.

They haven't made a motorhome under the Solera brand for 2 or 3 years. They replaced it with Mercedes Sprinter-based models under the Forester and Sunseeker brands, with very little difference among those three brands.

They also build a Sprinter-based motorhome under the Dynamax brand but I have the feeling that the Dynamax version is higher end and doesn't resemble the others quite so closely.

All of the MBS-based motorhomes are discussed in a unified forum here:

Well...no, not really.

Forest River has revived the Solera brand name after a few years of disuse, but the 2022 Solera is no longer based on the Mercedes chassis. About the only things they have in common are that both are (were) made by Forest River and both have the Solera name. Mostly to confuse people, I think!

We are looking to switch from our travel trailer to the Solera 27DSE. How do you like it and have you had any issues with it? Does it have the fabric upholstery? We had a bad experience with the bonded leather in our FR Wildwood trailer.

I believe the Solera is no longer on the MBS chassis, but is still made.

Well, that was right but apparently is now wrong.

Forest River has recently added two MBS chassis based floorplans to the Solera brand, in addition to the Ford based floorplans they've been making for the last few years.

I stand corrected. How about that; they brought it back.

Yeah, it's the recent Forest River approach of confusing the market. Near as I can tell, the 3 brands with MBS models - Sunseeker, Forester and Solera - all share the same two floorplans. Perhaps it has to do with dealers who carry one or the other brands, but not all of them.

The Sunseeker and Forester lines both include a larger number of Ford/Chevy chassis options than the Solera line and they both include Transit based models.

Hey Tampa Tom,
I bought a 2022 27DSE and am pretty happy with it. It has cloth upholstery that seems really decent. We're currently only our 2nd weekend trip with it and everything is going well. It drives nicely but I added the Firestone app controlled pump for the rear airbags, it makes a big difference as I can now adjust the air spring rate based on my load/cross-wind/preferences.

Thanks for the reply. I just put an offer on a used 2022 27DSE. I will look into the app for the airbags. Do you tow a vehicle with it? If so is it all wheels down or on a dolly?

Hi, I don't have a car to tow but I have a motorcycle carrier in the hitch receiver with a 350lb motorcycle on it so the adjustability of the airbags is great.

We just bought a 2023 Solera. We pick up on Wed.
We have had a Vegas for a very positive 7 years. Just too small for 2 adults and 2 dogs.

We did a lot of research and found this will meet needs.

I mostly tow a bracket car on open trailer and unit never sits long.

Just be aware that originally, at least, this forum was concerned with Solera's which were sold during the 2010's, all of which were based on the Mercedes Sprinter chassis. There have been almost no postings concerning the new Soleras, most of which are not on the MBS chassis.

Here’s the listings of models from the Forest River website.
It’s lists all the different Class C models currently in production.

The Solera we got is e450 based. Has newer 7.3 V-8. None of the MB sprinter base units meet our needs for GCWR.

Is rare when our unit sits more than two weeks. Lot of short trips when not raining.

Switch on window frame

I purchased mine from a private seller and did not get a complete explanation of all the features. There is an on/off switch over the outside mirror control on the driver's door frame. Do know what its purpose is?

That’s for your heated mirrors. This is a common question.

Thanks, not much use for that feature here in Florida but I will keep that in mind if I go north in the winter.

For a long time, Mercedes Benz did not allow the frame to go larger than 24 feet. The original frame was 21 feet but Mercedes had agreed that a bolted extension (not welded) of 3 feet may be added.
Recently I saw some MB frame used on model 27 feet long. So, did the original frame went from 21 to 24 feet and still accept a 3 feet extension or do they now allow a 6 feet extension ??????
