Of generators and seat belts on 24S

Hi all, first post, please be gentle ;-)

I have been researching sprinter based class C motorhomes for quite some time now. The layout that I have settled on is the one with a corner bed and cab over bed with dinette table. Must have's (among others) include diesel generator and fiberglass roof.

I had pretty much settled on a View/Navion 24J but recently got to see a 24S in person and was very intrigued - many features that are really nice to have included standard. Also found the interior to be more roomy than the View Navion. My significant other really liked it, and it was also lees expensive than the View/Navion.

One issue that I did not like as much was the lack of a fifth seat belt. We are a familly of 4 but would like the option of bringing along a friend, relative etc. from time to time. Would it be possible to have this added at the factory? Is there a reason why it could not be done (I am hoping bclemens can chime in).

As to the generator, the diesel version is no longer on the options list. I seem to recall in another thread that it had once again become a viable option. My local dealer says 'no'. Once again, I am hoping I could get confirmation from bclemens.

Best Regards all.

My understanding is that they only put in two seat belts because of weight rating. For every seat belt, you need to reduce the amount of how much you can carry. Considering that amount is kind of low already, they cut out some seat belts. I don't see any reason why you couldn't add some if it was important to you.

In regards to the generator, the range of the sprinter is low due to the smallish tank so having to rely on that for the generator wasn't appealing to me. I don't use the generator much but haven't had any issues with the propane one.

Did the View/Navion have a 5th seat belt? We've had our solera for 3 seasons now and love it. We have wondered about the seating in it as it can hold up to 6 people for sleeping arrangements but how do you get them to camp? Other than having them come in a different vehicle. The diesel generator I don't know what to tell you there we have the propane and always figured we could fuel that up when needed. Good luck and Welcome.

Diesel gen is back on the option sheets.

Seatbelts...its a catch 22. There is no testing process for a rear fasting seatbelt, so its not only a weight but a liability issue. I know that dealers have added them after the fact.

Thank you everyone that replied.
To confirm, yes the View/Navion shows five seatbelts on the same type of floorplan as the 24S.

Thank you Mr. bclemens for the quick reply.
Do you know by any chance how 'the dealers' made the modification? A seatbelt looped around the aluminum frame of the dinette bench or a complete install of a seatbelt steel frame support (same as on the other side of the dinette)?

Best Regards,
