Shocks

I tried posting this under the original "Shocks" thread, but since there hasn't been any activity it is closed. So, a new thread. . .

On my 2015 Solera 24R I added the Hellwig Stabilizer Bar which really helps on the highway.

However, I do a lot of off-pavement dry camping. The side to side rocking on some of those roads can be pretty "violent".

Will adding Sumo or Bilstein shocks resolve this problem? Which is best for what I need? Rear only or all around?

Do I need to make any changes in the springs?

Lacamastraveler, I have a 2014 Solera and have added Hellwig, Sumos and Bilstein (wish I had gone with the Koni shocks instead). I do a great deal of off-the-grid travel. All the upgrades have helped the side to side rocking, but they don't prevent it entirely. My approach is to go v-e-r-y slowly. The rocking can be quite unsettling! If it starts rocking, I stop and proceed even more slowly.

The function/purpose of a shock is to control the oscillation of the spring. It keeps the spring from rebounding too quickly.
As the other poster stated, go slower !

Mine came with the Hellwig and I added Billsteins and Sumos to the rear. They both made a difference but not a huge difference.

Char, why would you have gone with Koni instead. I have Helwig and rear sumo and made a large difference in slow driveway and parking lot entrances and wind sway.

Konis push both ways. Cushion both ups and downs. That's my "technical" interpretation -- I heard a presentation by Redlands Truck regarding different choices.

Thanks for feedback. If I replace shocks Koninit is. Kinda wanted to wear out factory ones.

I believe all automotive shocks cushion in both directions.
