Question Slide tearing linoleum?

We just purchased a new 2012 Solera. It should be ready in about a week. On our way to our first summer outing, still in our old HR, we met a couple who had purchased theirs and had it it for a week. They love it! Made us feel good. But they said that once they loaded the storage area on the slide, upon moving it, the slide cut into the floor!
What should we look for in the tolerances of the slide that would help prevent a similar incident?

Mine put a little cut in the floor also, but I think it went only so far and isnt getting any worse. It about 3" long. Love this little motorhome so much we really don't worry about that though!

Try to keep the slide out "box" as light as you can, as built, and if you must store things in it's compartments, be certain they are lightweight items. It will make your motor, track, and gears last a lot longer, as well. Randy

Good advise. Will watch that as we set up our new Solera, hopefully next week. Do you think the tolerances are too close? Is there any adjustment on something like that?

The tolerances are definitely too close on some, like mine. What I would do if I were you is point out your concern to your dealer. Have him operate the slide a couple of times and look at the floor closely (along w/ all other check-out) before you take delivery. Hopefully your dealer is close to you (unlike mine which is a 13 hour drive away), and if the issue occurs and your floor is damaged w/in the first year they can replace/repair under warranty!

It could possibly be that the tolerances are a bit too tight, and YES, there are adjustments that can be made for side-to-side(one side in farther than the other), and tilt- top tips in/out making the floor of the slide tip in or out sloghtly. HOWEVER, the slide out "box" just slides on fiberglass tracks under the box, with all of the room's weight being pushed or pulled over the main floor area. You can go underneath and find the adjustments, when extended out. Seems like a cheap way of doing things however, but that's basically how they work. Good Luck, Randy

We also had a tear that the dealer repaired with factory warranty credit. They manufactured 2 beefy poly slides with routed edges and mounted those so that the unit no longer slides on the fiberglass. The dealer must have also made some fit adjustments because the noise level in the RV while driving is considerably less now!
