Solera front seats

I would like to replace the existing front seats in my 2015 Solera. Can anyone recommend a supplier for motorhome seats ? I find the existing seats very uncomfortable.

It's funny you mention this because we think they are a little bit uncomfortable, too. However, my husband says he finds he doesn't get tired when driving, as he is forced to sit upright, and he feels he's driving a truck. I think we might be spoiled by the gazillion seat settings on our everyday cars!

Solera front seat replacement

I just replaced the front seats in our 2015 Solera with Knoedler air suspension seats. Got them at Seat Specialists on the net. Very expensive, very comfortable and worth every penny! My wife has horrible back issues from multiple failed fusions and we normally can drive no more than two hours without her having to lay down for an hour or so. Monday we drove over 6 hours on some very rough freeway with just a short potty break and she did great.

A huge plus to the amazing comfort is they raise the 6" needed to get the seat height right when you swivel them around - so you get really great "lounge chairs" as part of the living area.

We just took a long drive so waited to do a write-up but I will get a complete description of all the pros/cons/install issues hopefully done and posted this weekend.

If you do decide to get them, you can get a small discount with this link http://seat-specialists.refr.cc/62H*DXH Disclaimer - I get an incredibly small kickback also. Enthusiasm for seats totally unrelated!

jmaley, the link does not work. I did find the web site and was wandering which seat you went for? They have some really nice ones.

Knoedler Seat upgrade

Apparently the link I added is dead for the Knoedler seats. They have also eliminated the discount/kickback but would still appreciate it if you'd mention my name because I worked them quite a bit in getting the plate finalized for the swivel base. I'll go into that more in my bigger write-up.

The seats I have are:
Sprinter Extreme Lowrider Seat

Note that the same seat is available for about $250 less under Extreme Lowrider - that's because the built-in compressor is not included in the model for regular trucks since most have on board air. I installed a compressor with a 2.5 gallon tank so ordered them without. Will talk about more and include photos when I write it up this weekend.

Solera seat replacement review

I posted recently that we'd replaced our front seats (Solera 24R) with air suspension seats and promised a complete review. I did it on a blog as it's easier for me with all the photos etc and I want to share it with a couple other Sprinter forums I frequent.

To read all about our new seats, go to

Nice write up on your blog. I especially like what you did with the 2" thick Visio TV. I also like the custom designed Sprinter Van. We really wanted to get a Van but it was way too cramped for our family (wife and 2 kids) so we opted for the Solera. Glad we did because now we're looking at a DP, but that's a few years off. Are you planning to run your refrigerator off of the inverter while underway? I'd like to add an inverter for TV (110v) and the refrigerator while we are driving.

Thanks for the nice comments. Yes, will run the fridge on 110 while underway as we'll have an abundance of juice between the solar and alternator.

jmaley - enjoyed reading your blog. You write like a pro!
The new seats look very comfortable, and the red is so nice. I guess the biggest plus is that your wife can ride longer without her back hurting.

Great idea moving the TV to the dinette area, too. Last week was the first time we turned our seats around, and we haven't used the bedroom TV yet. Hmmmm, ideas!

Thanks for your time... Travel safe - and have fun!

This is a good source for RV furniture upgrades for the DIY'er ... they have good selection of used captains chairs too:

Beautiful seats and happy to hear that your wife is responding well with them! I have the original Teutonic seats and tho they do the job they are typical of German interiors. Spartan and efficient (more of less). They "do" make you sit more upright as per 5IVE2MH, I agree, which is a plus. Push come to shove I'll get a tush cushion down the pike if I have to but wish I could justify the $4 for those beauties! I would like to get a basic swivel plate for the passenger seat later, and now maybe the driver's too since I observed your photo's from the link...swivel's at the very least add two more seating area's, plus couch, when there's a crowd inside? Any idea where I could get the basic
plates for this since you seem to have run the gamut (or, guantlet?)? Good job, nonetheless and kudo's to you and happy your wife can enjoy it more! -PB

There are quite a few sources for aftermarket swivels. I like Eurocampers
Sprinter Seat Swivel Adapters for 2001 - 2015

I think you'd have to get Mercedes swivels from a MB dealer but don't know. New seat boxes, if you wanted shorter ones would almost certainly need to come from MB. I have no idea of the price of either since my Solera had them from the factory.

basic seat swivels...

Understood, and thank you. I "think" (or dreamed?) I saw somewhere on the blog that the basic plate adapters from MB run around...$300, or so? Sounds
high to me so they might be lower per...research time! Cheers!
