Who wants swivel seats?
How important are swivel seats on the Sprinter. What would it be worth? There is a long debate to keep the price low, but yet "do these swivel?" is one of the first questions I get at shows.

That would be about right...problem is, we can't just do one side. mercedes is both or deal with the aftermarket. I know people on here are resourceful...but most people don't want to deal with it and most dealers don't know how to deal with it.

We will be shopping for a Class A or C in a couple of years when the missus retires, and have already been checking them out at RV shows. Seats that swivel (and recline) all of the way around are on our wish list. If RV manufacturers can do that, I believe they can do away with the couches, and make shorter units. I don't think units need a couch with 2 easy chairs at the front of the unit. Guests ?? Sit at the dinette or on a couple of folding chairs. I understand extra seating for a family, but when there are just 2 people traveling, the couch would be unnecessary if you have the swivel seats.

On my list of winter projects for my Sunseeker is a swivel on the passenger seat. About $200 for the part.

In our M, I don't think it's necessary, as the M has the great recliners, and really, it's only made for just two people. If we have other people around, we'll sit outside. And we don't need them to swivel to get to the back, we are pretty nimble and just hop back.
OTOH, if it came with them, great! I don't think that $600 or so is a deal breaker when you're spending $70,000-$90,000.
It was one of our first questions btw!
And I think it's wonderful that you are asking our opinion

I would love to see your plans. I would love to have the driver's side swivel in our 2860 sunseeker. My concern in a DIY would to not decrease the safety of the seat for driving. The cab area would be more useful with the seat rear facing while camping

On our Georgetown the driver's seat swivels and we use it when parked. THe passenger seat has the same feature, but it won't turn because the dinette backs up to the seat so no space. One of the reasons we bought this over a class "C" was because of the imagined extra living space the swivel seats would yield. Looking back I think an overhead bunk (class c) would have been more useful than the single swivel seat. If both of our seats turned I might feel differently.

This is what I am thinking of doing:
Chevy RV Seat Bases, driver, passenger seat bases
I think it will be a rather simple task. I won't do the driver seat because the dinette would interfere.

Mercedes is the problem. They will not allow us to do aftermarket seats. So we either have to buy their option of swivel seats driver AND passenger, or just regular seats.
They have very, very specific requirements of what we can and can't do to their chassis. Otherwise we void the warranty.

Warranty on the unit...no. Liability if that seat malfunctions in some way during impact. Probably yes.

We have installed swivel seat bases in our unit. Use them every time we camp. It actually make the unit feel larger cause it frees up usable space when the are facing backwards. I say they would be worth close to double the $500 or so they cost me. Instalation was easy and fast. Very strudy construction and all the components are thicker and stronger then the rest of Merecedes factory seat bases. I can't see them malfuntioning if unstalled correctly.

Who want's swivel seats? Me. I had them in my RoadTrek RS Adventurous (Sprinter van) and then were very useful. I will probably just add it on the passenger side in my Murphy bed Solera because the driver seat is blocked out by the side of the recliners, so it wouldn't be useful.

Thus our dilemma. The passenger seats makes the most sense, but they don't offer just one, it has to be both. Not very cost effective.
