Buy 30 amp or 50 amp?
Hello! We are new to travel trailers. After looking at several, we have settled on the Vibe 308BHS. We are going to build one with Jeff Couch hopefully this week so we will have it all set to go before summer.
We have decided on all of the options except doing only 30amp or upgrading to 50amp with the second AC unit. It will only cost an extra $725 for the upgrade. Any advice on choosing which to go with? We are a family of four. Most travel will be close to Virginia, but we hope to take farther trips occasionally.
Thanks!

50 Amp! If 50A is an option don't even consider 30A. Don't make the same mistake I did. Our trailer was converted to 50A after the fact. First timer earned a semi-expensive lesson.

Well your profile does not list the part of the country you live in so I'd say with out a doubt go with the 50amp and 2nd air you will not regret. Later RJD

In my opinion it is really based on what you are going to have in it. If you are going to have 2 ac units then you have to have 50amp. If not my opinion is probably don't need the 50 amp. Remember that 30 amp is 1 30 amp service lines and 50 amp is actually 2 50 amp service lines.

Highly recommend 50A if you plan on going to Myrtle Beach or even VA Beach you will be glad you have the 50A and 2 ACs. This does also depend on the size of the trailer if it is 20 feet no the 30A is fine. But if it is 30 plus feet you will want 2 ACs and the 50A in Virginia for summer camping.

Anything over 20 ft you will need two ACs to be comfortable in the hot summer, 50 amp for sure

Buy 30 amp or 50 amp?
This also depends were you camp. We camp at provincial parks and I have never been at a site that has 50A service.

It looks like 50 amp is the way to go! Thank you so much for the responses. We were on the fence because there was a 30 amp in stock and it will take 4-6 weeks to have the 50 amp ready for pick up. I think it will be worth the wait though : )

Plus if you do some early or late season camping the 50 amp will allow you to use 2electric heaters in the unit while still being able to make your morning coffee.

If you go to campgrounds that don't have 50amp service but you have a 50 amp until you can get a dog bone adapter that you plug 50amp end into your rv cord and get a 30amp plug and 15 amp plug you can plug into campground peristalsis if available giving you 45amps. Not quite the same but a help.

Not all CG allow the 30 and 15 amp plugs. They charge the site for the amperage being used (15, 30 or 50 amp).

The 50 Amp. is also a "plus" when you go to sell it.

If you plan on running anything else while running just one AC, like coffee pot, microwave, water heater, curling iron then a 50amp circuit is a must, not to mention running both AC at once. If you spend time in the south, you WILL run both ACs. Go for the 50 amp.

The two head 45amp solution is iffy. If the post is GFI, it won't work. Just carry a 50 to 30 doggone and if all available is 30, only run one A/C at a time.
