Converting Rear brake candescent bulb to LED
I have a 2016 Forest River Vibe 272BHS. I want to know how to convert my old brake lights to LED lights and where I can purchase them.

O'Reilly Autoparts usually has direct replacements on the shelf.
Since the bulb is mounted horizontally, look for a bulb that uses "panels" around the axis rather than a bulb with an LED disc on the end.

Personally, I wanted to get rid of the crappy housing and I never wanted any corrosion issues with those old style bulb sockets so I went with these. Way brighter than the original housings even with an LED bulb in it.
Too many years of issues with those between boat, utility and travel trailers. Only sealed LED now on any of my trailers. All 4 of my trailers are sealed LED.

Ordered a 10 pack of these from Walmart:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/10-X-1157...2357/678655825
Work great. Also picked up some Nashua HVAC Foil Sealing Tape from Home Depot to line the inside of the taillight housing to aid in reflectivity.
TIP: The more "SMD"s (Surface Mounted Diodes), the brighter the bulb. For a tail light I recommend at least 18 SMD.

There are many sizes of SMD diodes so you have to compare the size of the diodes as well. BTW, SMD stands for "surface mount device".

Keep in mind if you replace the bulbs it is possible some of the fixtures could be wired backwards + should be the center contact and - the body but a standard bulb doesn't care. Of course FR would never reverse the wires
Never mind for that light as a dual filament would not work from the TV otherwise

Just get replament 1034 equivalents from WAlmart. They are in packs of 2. As stated get the ones that have the light on the side, not the end. I am on my 4th season with these bulbs in my v cross.

One thing I don't see mentioned above is to make sure that the lamps or fixtures you get are DOT approved if you're going to replace brake/tail lights. A lot of the lamps sold on ebay and amazon aren't DOT approved. They would be fine for extraneous lighting (indoor, porch light, etc.), but not for signaling.

I had the same fixtures and just replaced the bulbs. While the parking/running lights were brighter the brake lights were very hard to tell with them on. Since I tow with them on for the camera to work mostly during the day I changed back to the regular bulbs until I could change the lamps. Not saying they are all like that but the ones I tried were DOT approved and sucked. I blame the fixture more than the bulb as there is 0 reflective material in the fixture. Maybe just some foil would have made it work better.
I ended up going with these but not without a few issues.
1. The license attaches to the bottom of the tail light. I bought a $5 mount from the auto parts store.
2. The license plate requires lighting by law and it was tied to the taillight. I added a few LEDs for that for another $10.
3. If you ONLY have LEDs on the taillights my truck keeps telling me they are out. I had to add a resistor to prevent this to each taillight. I only had to add them to my taillights as the running lights have the camera attached to them.
Not sure if it was worth the headache to do it all again but it was not super expensive either and I am happy with the results.
Good luck!

I want to replace mine asap. However, switching out the bulb only to led causes some problems as does the led do brake lights and turn signals?
Babock, the ones you state "Bargman Trailer Lights - 47-84-610" from e-trailer do all three: brake, tail, and turn signal. This seems to be the one!

I bought mine at Walmart. If you have red lenses buy the red bulbs. They show brighter than the white ones. If you purchase the same item number as the original bulb they are plug and play replacement.

Babcock - how do these compare to the size of original lights? What did you have to do to mount them? Any “adjustments needed!

Slightly bigger. Just 6 screws and some sealant around the edges. Since they don't have a light for the license plate, I bought a new LED plate mount too.

Are these big enough to cover the original brake light holes?
