Crack in my Vibes Skin

We just completed a 3k mile trip and discovered a new crack/defect on the back of my Vibe up near
the passenger side corner. 100% sure it occurred during this trip. No impact marks that I can see.

Any idea on the cause? Is it a sign of something more critical? What would be the best way to repair besides the clear gorilla tape that I have applied.

The Vibe is 1 month out of warranty. I have around 8 to 10K miles on it.

Thanks for any help, Steve

I'm guessing impact damage. I would drill a small hole at each end of the crack and then put a piece of eternabond tape on it.
