Question Jensen DVD & TV Question

Is the Jensen DVD Player connected to the Jensen TV? I'd like to have to option of playing some DVDs but I'm not sure if it will work? Are there any other Vibe owners have the Jensen DVD and TV installed in their tt and have been able to view DVDs on their TV?

If they hooked it up from the factory, yes. Check the back of your Tv for the "red, white and yellow" RCA connectors. The other end should go to your Jensen DVD system.

Thanks for all the replies! I will give it a try...my problem is the Jensen DVD/Radio is mounted on the side cabinet (as you come in the entry way) and the Television is on the wall of the bathroom so....I guess I will check it out otherwise I might need to replace it with a TV/DVD combo ....an expenditure that I will have a hard time justifying...

I have a 6501 and the DVD from the Radio plays on the TV. I did have to correct the wiring before I could get it to work. They had mixed up the video out.

This happens occasionally, the techs installing them are human and mistakes happen. This should have been caught at the factory, at the acceptance inspection by the dealer, and during the PDI by you at the dealer before signing the paperwork.

Again we are all human and mistakes happen.

Now that we are here; some photos of the back of the TV connections and the back of the Jensen connections would help us help you and might save you a trip back to the dealer.

Herk if your reply was directed at me I corrected the issue 2 years ago. No way I would go back to the dealer for electrical work (25 years as an electronic technologist). Did not test on the PDI because someone hit the hydro pole near the dealer and they had no power during PDI.

Sorry that I used your post as a quote. I was referencing the incorrectly hooked up wires you referred to and the reason the OP should check that out as a possibility.

While on the subject of the Jensen DVD Radio, when playing DVD's is it possible to have the sound come from the TV. Ours does not and the sound only comes through the aux. speakers.

I mounted a pair of computer speakers on the window valance at the head of the queen bed,ran wires inside wiring channel under the lower bunk ,then up the wall to the tv.I put a split connection to the headphone jack on back of tv( Vizio 19 in does not have audio out). Now I can listen to the stereo speakers and or the bed speakers together or separate. The computer speakers have a volume control and a headphone jack. This allows us to watch tv with just the bed speakers when the grandchildren are sleeping. If we want to listen to the tv speakers,we just unplug the headphone jack at the tv.The stereo speakers play through aux 1 .

Was able to figure out this issue earlier this evening. Just a couple more items tomorrow to take care of in the morning before hitting the road.

DVD sound to TV

My Jenson system does the same thing. It plays the video on the TV but the sound plays on the outside speakers hooked up to the DVD/Radio. When I looked at the back of the DVD/radio I notice the two RCA jacks are for audio inputs not outputs.

I'm thinking about taking the B+B- right and left wires and soldering RCA jacks to them and then hook that up to the TV audio input.

If the B+B- you are talking about are the "B" speaker outputs you do not want run them to the audio input to the TV. The audio inputs are designed for low levels and have a much different impedance than the speaker outputs. The end result is likely to be a fried audio in on the TV and potentially damaging the output on the DVD/Radio.

r racer5 says to look for the red, white and yellow rca connections on the television.

What do you do if your television has the green, blue and red rca connections? I have had to use a dvd player from home and a cable to watch a movie. Any hints?

Thanks,

jim

HDMI cable, if both tv and player support it.

Green, Blue, and Red Connections are for COMPONENT VIDEO IN and not for sound.

Look for the audio output for the TV. Either a red/white RCA OUTPUT or it could have a digital output.

Like this:

Digital sound output will only work with a Genesis 3.0 surround sound unit without a digital to analog converter and the correct cabling.

Thanks for the input. I appreciate it. As my RV did not come with HDMI connection (between the jensen and the wall) and I don't believe that the jensen unit has HDMI OUT, I think I am going to be using the DVD player. Getting way over my head.

Thanks again to all.

Jim

Hook the HDMI right to your tv and player you will have less cabling hanging around and it is easy to hook/unhook when need be.
