Only problem I see would be voiding any warranty that may still be in effect.

Warranty is almost up. Theres really no storage on these units. I would fasten it down with the same u-bolts used for the spare tire so i could remove it if there was a issue and not drill in bumper.

You are correct. Not much storage at all. What I have done on mine to help is to add a 3 hook to the bedroom side of sliding door then did same on opposite door. Not much but it helps. Added lifters to foot of bed for easier access to underbed storage. Added over the door shoe storage to inside of bathroom door....not for shoes but all the small stuff that you cant put in the cabinets. Hung 2 5 inch fence posts, one under steps and one under bumper for stinky slinky storage. That little bit frees up a decent amount of space.

i did 1 5" fence post need another ( need another 1 so its not crammed in there), made adjustable shelves in bedroom closet need to add pistons to the bed for easy lifting. In bathroom got a shampoo/conditioner dispenser (4) and over the door towel racks. I added drawer gluides for the 2 draws under the dinette. In the storage compartment i did the peg board mod and for the power cable i did the harbour freight mod. n
