vibe 2017 268rks Slide Cable Flex Guard failed

Flex guard under the slide-out that holds the running light wires and keeps them from tangling with the wheels failed twice:.the guard sagged enough to get grabbed by the wheel and forced down and break.

Replaced once with a new guard and the same thing happened again within a year.

Any suggestions on how to improve or prevent this from happening?
