Walking on the roof? Vibe Extreme Ultra Lite 258RKS

We just bought a new 258RKS and so far, so good! Couple of questions have already been answered here - big thanks for everyone's participation.

One thing I've been wondering is: can we walk/sit on the roof? We are headed to Daytona next year and we need to be up high to view the race cars, so the roof seemed an obvious possible solution.

Yes? No?

Check with the Manufacture to see if the roof is rated for a bunch of people. And, the other problem, most race venues will not allow the roof for viewing unless you have proper safety rails.

No. According to the factory rep the roofs of the Vibe extreme lite models are not made to be walked on.

I found this out the hard way, I was cleaning the roof and heard it crack on three different places on my 21FBS. Didn't puncture holes on it but I learned my lesson.

Even though there is a ladder on the rear of my TT it has a label that states that the roof is not made for lawn chairs or anything other than access for inspection and maintenance.

That's odd because I contacted them about getting on the roof (2016 268RKS) to apply Eternabond on all my seams and the rep told me no problem walking on the roof! I've been on the roof many times adding a new antenna, installing a vent cover, washing the roof and every winter putting on the cover. in the 3yrs I've owned it never any issues. I'd say it's safe, but I wouldn't advise putting any lounge chairs and sitting up there

If your Vibe is the one in your avatar it doesn't appear to be an Extreme Lite model as I specified in my reply. The roof on the standard Vibe models is able to be walked on. The OP was asking about an Extreme Lite model.

Yes, my 2016 268RKS is the Extreme Lite model. If you can blow up my avatar you'll see it says it in the VIBE decal. I got the OK to walk on the roof from their Customer Technical Adviser.

I can't get the avatar to blow up large enough to see it clearly, but I was going by the information on the Vibe website and it lists the 268RKS as a standard weight Vibe, still a light built trailer. Perhaps it is wrong on their website. My information on the Extreme Lite models comes from the warranty dept. at the factory where my entire roof was replaced under warranty, perhaps they are wrong also, my apologies if my information is incorrect.

No problem. But I hope I didn't give the OP misinformation. I just re-read his post and noticed his model is the 258RKS not the 268RKS like I have. Missed that one number off! Oops!
