Finding the water filter

I just bought an rPod 195. My previous trailer had a water filter with a replaceable cartridge. I can’t find one on the rPod. Does it really not have one?

Moved thread to the Rpod sub-forum since the OP is asking for model-specific information and not a general question.

I have a 2016 RP-180. I don't have a filter to my knowledge other than my Brita pitcher.

There's no built in water filter. You use one externally between the city water inlet (or water tank fill) and the water source you are using.

Using an external filter while refilling the fresh tank sounds pretty impractical. How important is a water filter anyway?

How much do you trust the source of the water you put in your fresh tank?

We do everything with our onboard water except drink it. With all the different sources we refill from……you couldn’t recreate that recipe if you tried.

It’s not impractical at all. You just screw one of these external filters on your faucet and fill the tank as if you used no filter. Hundreds of people do it every camping trip.

I agree with Mr. Dan. It's one extra step. Screw the water filter onto the spigot before you attach the hose to the filter.

Do it all the time, for the past 25 years. It is no way "impractical".
I prefer the external filter, to an internal filter for many reasons.

OK, a couple of questions about refilling with an external filter: Are you refilling at home before you go, or at a dump station? Does the filter slow down the fill?

I was think about the dump station. Refilling is slow enough already, and there is probably someone waiting.

On my last trailer, the fresh tank cracked and started leaking, so I am being more careful about traveling with a full tank. I’ve also, taken a number of trips where I had to refill mid trip.

That cracked tank was an expensive fix. The original tank must have been put in before they put the floor down. The only way to replace it was to cut out the supports and then fashion new ones.

As Mr. Dan said, you just screw the external filter onto your hose. It does not slow down the water flow.

Why are you filling the fresh water at the dump station? Hopefully, the fresh water source you are using is FAR AWAY from the dump station.

If you are camping at a site that doesn't have a fresh water connection and are concerned about the extra weight of traveling with a full fresh water tank, you can search for a fresh water source near your camping location and fill there. But using the water filter won't appreciably impact the flow rate.
