Highway Driving Speeds
About to take the new 180 on our first trip, wondering what everyone generally keeps their highways speeds at as a maximum? Will be on mostly 75 mph highways, I'm thinking around 65, or is 70 generally safe. Trying to get a consensus. Thanks

tires are the problem... did you get a TPMS?
recommend 65 MPH and monitor your tires closely...

180? If this is an RPod then your tires are speed rated to 65MPH. So keep your speeds under 60, or be prepared for the consequences.

65 tops on my 178. Driving is part of the adventure. No real need to hurry.

I wouldn't trust a Chinese made tire at 75mph. I would keep it at 65mph or under. Right at the speed where the R-Pod looks like it wants to become airborne.

No sway bars, no weight-balancing hitches. R-Pod NEVER has swayed at all. Hills are a snap. Hardly feels like we are pulling anything at all.
But, as I said earlier, never over 65, so I can't speak to the aerodynamic qualities of R-Pods at 75.

My tires are rated at 85. I've been known to sneak up into the 70's but I generally like to travel between 65 and 70. A bit over for passing, which I do on occasion. I do have a TPMS.

I'm generally about 60. Not in any hurry and I'm less tired when I get to the end of the day. Will sometimes go just fast enough to stay with the slower semi's.

65 is very comfortable for me - I'll occasionally inch up to 70 or so when passing or to merge into traffic, but basically we're always traveling at 65 on the highway.
My American-made Goodyear Endurance tires are rated to 87 mph, but that's something that will never be tested by me!!

Too bad more people don't think like that. "My tires are rated for 110, so that's the speed I'm going to drive at." I could care less what the tire rating is, my trailer pulls best at 65 to 70 (under the speed rating) and that's where it stays and that's where I feel comfortable at.

60 or speed limit with an Express van and an R-Pod 171.
Seem to average 50, including stops, on long haul interstate runs, and 35 on secondary road runs.

Tires are only part of the equation. Speed, and aerodynamics (or the lack of it), will get you in trouble.
You can watch here, in real time, how an RV'er gets into trouble with speed, aerodynamics and possibly an overload condition:

The tires on my rig are rated to 75. I set cruise on 65. This gives me a safe margen for passing and going down hills.
