New R-Pod owner - Replace the shades with curtains?

We just got a 2018 R-Pod 179, in almost mint condition. I love it except for the window shades. I want to replace them with light weight curtains, and thought I could just put tension rods in valences, but can't do that without removing the shades. Is there a better way to do this, and if not, how do I remove the shades?

While we do not have an R-pod, we did, and I say we i really mean my DW managed to get a tension rod with sheer panels in the valance along with the shade. This is on the big window over the dinette. She used the "flatter" tension rod.

We can still use the shade if we want to, which a is nice for storage or catching a nap during the day.

I can't imagine that the clearance inside an R-pod valance and a WW valance being that much different? But maybe it is.

We did the same with our FS Mini Lite. Took down the factory balance and the DW purchased a colorful camper valence. Shades down after dark. Simple upgrade with tension rods.
