the bumper is too weak to carry one.
what kind of generator are you thinking about?

most of us carry the generator in the tow vehicle on smaller trailers that don't have big storage areas.
depending on how big it is, you could put a Honda 2000 in a storage tub with a lid.

I have a Honda 2000 inverter. Is reinforcing the rear bumper an option?

it will probably void the frame's warranty, since any mod to the frame/bumper usually results in loss of the frame warranty. especially if it for something the bumper wasn't designed for.

reinforcing is an option but be clear about the warranty.

My father's 171 came with a hitch receiver in the back for his spare tire. There is an optional bike carrier sold by Forest River. If you have the same set up and the receiver is there it seems a Honda 2000 would not be out of the question. You could always check with Forest River.

Bikedan, until 6 years ago I made my living as a heavy equip. Mechanic, now I I find myself trying to keep the smell of Gasoline & Diesel out of my truck, it has a shell / canopy on it. If it comes down to it, the generator will go in the truck :-)

Tomscat, totally understand.
i worked a few years, for logging truck companies, as a tire buster and lube/oil man.
i got lots of diesel baths changing out the fuel filters, especially running down my arms into my armpits.
took a lot of showers getting rid of the odor.

I used to put mine in the door of my pop up- after all was just empty space while traveling.
