Unhappy Sort of stumped on water inlet

Just bought a R-179. The tank water supply inlet is just a twist cap over a 1.25" opening that accepts a hose, but doesn't provide for a secure connection between the hose and the RV FW inlet. Am I missing a part? I'd like to think that it requires a secure hose fitting attached to the RV so that it doesn't make a mess. I'm not talking about the city attachment, just the Fresh water inlet above it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Woops it's a 2017 RPOD-179.

That's pretty standard for fresh water tank fill...just stick the hose in, or use something like this:

That is the common type fresh water tank fill used for 40 plus years.

You really do not want the fill hose to be tight or snug in that opening. Fill the tank slowly; you want it to breathe… The smaller hole next to the twist cap is the vent that lets air out as the tank fills.
When filling slowly you will hear gurgling sounds from the filler opening and the vent.
If you fill the tank to fast and cause it to swell, it may buckle floor above.

Hope this helps…

The tank shouldn't swell unless the vent is plugged, or vent hose is kinked or otherwise restricted. But you are right, you don't want or need the fill hose to be tight in the fill opening.
By the way, don't stand directly in front of the vent, you may take a shower.

For many years, I just used a 1/2 or 5/8 inch hose length (about 12" long) with a female hose connection on it and a ball valve. I screw that to the end of the supply hose and insert it into the trailer fresh water inlet. It has always worked well for me.
