Generator for Sandstorm

Hi all,

I've been looking at the 243slc Sandstorm and see that an Onan generator can be added. Does the generator run off the gas tank or the propane?

Any help is appreciated...

I have a 203slc and I have the Onan 4000 gen set for mine. It runs off the fuel stations 35 gallon tank and can hardly tell it uses gas. When I was looking for a toy hauler a gen built in was a must for me as for I boondock camp 99% of the time I go. It was an expensive upgrade but completely well worth the money. You won't be disappointed.

It can be either. When I was looking at adding a genset to our Puma (it was wired for one) the dealer said we could have it wired either for propane or gas.

Frankly I would elect for gas as it is easier to refill gas on the road than propane. The other important thing is due to the better BTU content of gasoline, the genset develops more power than when it is running on propane.

The plus side of propane though is that your carburator will stay cleaner and generator is less likely to require fuel system routine maintenance.

I went with dual Honda 2000s. Unfortunately the genset bay is not tall enough to store the gensets there.

Dealers can install a propane generator for you but most brands will offer only the optional gas generator.

I went total solar, no need for a generator, plus my generator seized up did not want to spend another two thousand. Decided on solar this time. Will let you know how it works.
