14 Billion in back orders for RV company!!!!

https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/news...cid=entnewsntp

If quality, craftsmanship and materials were an issue all these years for RV's, I would hate to be one of the people that receives one of these back ordered units. These units are going to be held together by glue and duct tape.

The same could be said about cars and trucks. There are thousands of them parked all over our state waiting for this or that circuit board. These were pushed out the door and parked. Quality control is pretty much on the far back burner. It's all about numbers- how many rolled out the back door- even tho they are not tested and can't be sold as is...

I’ve been telling people……

In the years to come, conversations might get around to telling someone what year their car, truck, motorhome or whatever is.

If they answer “2021”.

I’ll be saying…….”So you’re the one!”

I've thought the same thing - how poorly are they being slapped together? I also predict there will be a flood of these used units on the market over the next couple of years as all of the people who bought one just to escape Covid find out they really don't like camping and would rather fly/cruise etc for vacation. Buyer beware!

Talking

Being one waiting for my Covid TT.

Those old timers who bought 3 to 5 years ago will be pulling and driving rusty buckets while our New minor issue TT and Rv's will be waving bye-bye while your roadside help is en route.

Sorry the value for resale on your TT Rv's will be the scrap prices for aluminum ship lap sidling can bring.

Important: All said in Jest!

That is exactly what is happening at animal rescue shelters all over the states. People adopted dogs and cats during the pandemic when they had free time on their hands. Now, everyone is going back to work and these very same people are returning their rescues because they no longer have time for them or they were not able to take the time to train them correctly. Sad, very sad.

I knew I should have invested in this industry a year ago when I predicted this. I'm so mad at myself.

Economically speaking, that would be disastrous. While THOR reports over $14 billion in back orders, imagine what the other manufacturers have. I can't even imagine $1-$2 billion of used RV inventory being dumped on the market. It will drive down the value of currently owned RV's significantly. Folks that financed with minimal down will instantly be underwater on their loans.

the story mentions that it is Thor... of all the trailers and MHs the wife and i looked at when we were looking to purchase, the Thor built ones were the least impressive to begin with.... i would hate to see the quality drop even more on them...

That's why I live by the idea that you should never finance something that you cannot pay off in 3 years, other than a house. When I bought my trailer the finance manager kept stressing that all I was just going to pay was about $100 month after all of the negotiations were out of the way. Yeah, for 10 years! No, thank you. I made sure that I could pay it off in 3 years and scheduled my payments accordingly.

I understand that everyone has different financial situations but that is something that I do.

but...but...but....Airstream.

If Thor is is sitting on $14 billion in backorders you can bet Forest River is as well since the parts they are all made of are the same and have the same supply issue.

Sorry to say but they are like that now.
IMHO.
Same Same.
I wish I did not feel this way but when you spend your hard earned money and have to constantly repair repair repair what else can you feel?

Model years may even be "hyphenated".

First number is year built and second, year delivered.

Way things are going there may be some 2021-2023 "model years".

Should be interesting to see what happens with car mfr's plans for the next couple model years considering that the current models may not be delivered for some time.

I'm not too sure about that. Thor has some major brand names that are icons in the RV world from what I learned. FR is not on the same platform of recognition as they are in my opinion.
