16 foot awning disaster

Hello all,

I was enjoying an unbelievable rain storm in PA at a state park watching a movie till it stopped when an enourmous bang and shake over took my 2002 sunseeker. We thought a tree haad fallen on the RV.
It turned out that i did not have my awning pitch enough and it colapsed. OK, my bad, or mother nature, but my delema is that for some reason, i cannot get or find a price for a replacement full awning assembly manual or motorized.
the destroyed one was a 16 foot A&E, now Dometic 8000 series. i want to get a price on a new 8000 series (which i believe is the manual awning) or a 9100 power awning, the complete, shipped to my door price.

all the prices i get are piece meal. " you need this screw, this motor this bar this hardware kit, etc"

i just want the whole thing,i will install it, new or used.

sorry to go off but i have tried for 4 months and have gotten no were.

sorry for the novel, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

You will probaly be in over $2k for a complete NEW awning or I found a used one for $900. I guarantee you can fix the old one for a heck of a lot cheaper. What broke?

Wow, they are Pricey! I've always considered my awning as sun protection, nothing more that a light shower. Now I'm really glad I thought that way!

If the roller tube is bent, I think you can get those for around $300. Something like this one..

Dometic 3108346 Patio Awning Replacement Roller Tube | American RV Company

Have you tried Dometic's web site. As long as you look around on the roller assembly and arm mountings for any information tags, they have been pretty decent to get you parts

I had an awning torn off my previous RV, insurance replaced it. Might be an option for you?

Maybe I am missing something. I called FR and told them one of the two on my rig was missing when I bought it used. She looked up the VIN and told me the part number for the replacement. If you are upgrading, you will likely need a complete new system and the mounting holes will not align. Have you tried contacting the manufacture with the VIN on the unit?

A few years ago I had a real bad blowout that took my rear awning support. When it was replaced the repair shop just threw the old awning in a pile. For some reason I salvaged the fabric. I think it is 16 feet. It is burgundy. Anyone who wants to pay shipping can have it. Just contact me through the forum

Try looking on eBay doing a search for precisely what you want. I find the prices there to be equal or less than everywhere else!

Sorry for your hard won lesson. Here in S Louisiana we always tilt our awnings a lot!

Good Luck

Just have one question, "Unbelievable storm"? Why was your awning even out?

last year while in Havasu, we changed out the 16 ft awning with a 20 ft.
cost was 1175.
I did keep the roller and arms if needed

With awning poles and the awning tilted 6"-10", we NEVER bring the awning in.

That's what I used to do..... until I ran into some 60mph winds in Miss. Yanked all anchors out of the ground.

There is a limit to everything, IF we have predicted winds gusts above 30 mph, I will stow the awning even tho' I have poles. I've never encountered wind gusts above 30 mph, altho' we've had them in the 25-30 mph with the awning deployed with poles and 14" dirt screw anchors screwed into the handles.

Same thing happen to me. Had one side replaced. Fabric was fine so just the mechanism on the one side was replaced for $750. Insurance covered it after a $200 deductible. I'll be more careful from now on.
