2005 Forest River rv No power to Generator

Power from battery. Power at fuse box under hood. No power at generator. Gas is practically full but the generator has no light and doesn't even attempt to do anything when trying to start it. Also the breaker on the generator is on on position. It's an Onan 4000

OK, let's start with more info. You have a 2005 Forest River....?

I assume a motorhome since you mentioned hood, but we need to know the make and model Forest River product you have.

Thanks

Look near the battery for a circuit breaker, in the cable,
that feeds the generstor.

As was said, we need the brand and model number.
Forest River is the corporate name. There are around 100 different brands, in the Forest River family.

i'd start by measuring the 12 volt voltage right at the generator terminals. this will tell you if the problem is within the generator of in the cables bringing power to the generator. if no voltage work you way back to the batteries.

as mentioned above there is probably a 12 resetable circuit breaker in the 12 volt positive cable. check it and reset it.

also check the ground connection from the generator. many times they do not run a separate negative cable all the way back to the battery but instead run a cable from the generator ground to chassis ground. this connection could be loose or corroded.
