Question 2023 Geo Pro Coupler Latch

We are brand new to RV Trailers. We bought a Geo Pro G19FDS. It has a very annoying coupler latch. Most coupler latches I have used in the past are regular trigger latches. Once you pull up on them they will stay up while you raise or lower the trailer off or on the ball.

The Geo Pro, I have to lift up on the latch and then slide it back towards the trailer. I have to hold it like that while raising or lowering the trailer. It is very awkward, especially since my hand strength is limited by rheumatoid arthritis.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there a trick to this that I am missing?

We have to take the trailer back to the dealer for a minor problem with the door keypad and I will ask them, but I thought I would check on here.

Thanks

Your type of coupler has become the most common one, on TTs. My 2007 Roo had the old style, like your previous trailers. My 2016 TracerAir TT has the type you're complaining about, so it's been around at least that long.
I've never had to hold it back, it just slides back and stays there.
But I unlatch it before I raise the tongue off the ball.

I agree that you should be able to slide it back and have it stay there while you operate the tongue jack.

Well on my trailer it is spring loaded. Probably thought up by the same person that developed some of the more annoying child proof caps on prescription medications. I wonder if I can disconnect the spring. If so, would it affect the effectiveness?
