2500 Duramax payloads

Started looking at moving to a 2500 Duramax. I know the brochure weights are payloads on basic versions before all the extras so those brochure weights are pretty useless. Looked at the door jamb sticker of a 2500 Denali with the Duramax and its max payload was 1990 lbs...also saw a Ram 2500 Laramie that 1905...The dealer I was at is out of 2016 Duramax trucks but can get us one from another dealer. This made me realize that before I could commit to the dealer bringing one in from another dealer, I will need to know the payload from the doorjamb of the exact truck he would bring in, just so I know what I am dealing with.
I was just wondering what some of you Duramax owners show on your doorjamb sticker for payload. I know these can vary by style and accessories, but I would be looking at your standard equipment on 2500HD Sierra SLE, crew cab, standard (6 1/2' box) or the equivalent Chevy LT, so non-Denali or non- High Country. Anybody have a simarlarly equipped truck and if so what is your payload as per the sticker.
My CAT scaled pinweight is 1460lbs so confident I am confident I will be ok, but just wanting to know numbers.

I have a 2015.5 duramax 6.6, crew cab, 6 ft. 6 inch bed, Z71 and LTZ trim packages, 4 wheel drive.
My door sticker is 2342 pounds payload.

Don't know what changed between 2015 and 2016, my truck is pretty much loaded up with options including a factory folding tonneau cover.

It came with LT265/60R20E tires rated at 3195 pounds at 80 psi.

If you worry too much about payload you will never pull anything. I think mine is 2390, but I totally ignore the payload figure. I did the calc once and found fully loaded with 5ver, firewood and extra fuel/water I was 950# over the payload figure. The stock truck wasn't even squatted to level! All the other figures were well within ranges. So, yep, I ignore payload figures. If it squats the truck past level, then I figure I'm over

I have the all terrain package as well, which may or may not impact my payload number. When I'm looking at new ones now (3500 denali dually), the first thing I do is open the door. I've seen the duallies range from 4k to 4001# in payload)

There is a guy on another TT board that has the same truck I have (Chevy Version) and is a pulling a 17k fifth wheel. He replace his 2500 rear leaf pack with a 3500 rear leaf pack. The 2500 and 3500 SRW are the same trucks with the exception of the rear suspension

I'm about to go to the place you're already at, the only difference between my 2500HD and a 3500HD similarly equipped is one extra spring on each side of the rear end. Brakes are the same, motor is the same, tranny is the same.

Wife and I are looking at fifth wheels, everyone we look at has a pin weight at 2,000 pounds are more. Add the washer dryer which is up front and another 150 pounds.
So if we buy what we really want I will obviously be over by a few hundred pounds on payload.

Besides, when I bought this truck my salesman (also a friend) told me it would pull anything!! sarcasm/ (Just sarcasm on the salesman comment, serious about everything else)

True enough. Presumably your dealer will have to communicate with another dealer who has the truck you want, so it should be no problem for him to request the numbers off the sticker and give them to you before you make a decision. We dealt with a dealer a fair distance from home and he was happy to snap photos of the stickers and email them to us.

He is going to be calling me tomorrow and I figure I will ask him to do exactly what you are saying.

I'm very suspicious of the so called payload numbers posted on trucks and trailers. When I put my truck on the CAT scale it showed a payload that was 120 pounds less than the sticker. That was with the truck full of fuel and the minor amount to added accessories (running board steps, tool box, air springs and compressor, a much heavier than stock receiver hitch, etc.) and me sitting in the driver seat. The TT had an extra 100 pounds payload according to a different CAT scale.

Very interesting. Never heard this before "if the truck squats past level, I'm over."

My understanding is that the payload rating is based on the weakest component of the truck that the weight will stress when you overweight the truck. That doesn't mean you can't overload the truck and travel down the road, but:
1) you won't be covered by your insurance in an accident
2) what you can't see may wear or fail sooner
3) you are knowingly putting your family members at additional risk somewhere between payload and squat.

So the question is, do you know squat or don't know squat?

Ah... The unwarranted fear mongering has started (which doesn't hold water with me)..... But the word play is cute. Also you forgot that over payload causes global warming and hemorrhoids.....

I'm not using any deliberate fear tactics or exaggeration or repetition to influence you.

I do honestly believe you are trying to influence owners to ignore the payload rating, which manufacturers are liable for, insurance companies do use to avoid insurance payouts, and for which you can be held criminally liable for in an accident.

On the other hand, you are unaccountable for your squat opinion that you can not support or back up with anything other than to claim fear mongering and screwball comments when someone doesn't agree with you.

I'm not that close, just wanting to know what simarly equipped trucks to what I am looking at were at for sticker payloads seeing as the dealer has none on his lot that I could compare to.

My F 250 Cab and Half had 2350 lbs with Lariat Trim level. Sounds like the 2500 are low in payload compared to Ford.

As far as ignoring payload I think Wildcat is assuming lability with his own setup. His choice ultimately other might pay the price.

Interesting how a Dbl cab vs Crew but an 8 ft box vs 6.5 doesn't change payload all that much...is yours 4x4?
