2nd shower doesn’t drain
Hi,
We went on our shakedown trip this weekend and we learned that the shower drain is clogged 100%. We let the water sit for a day before scooping it out for the drive home.
Has anyone experienced this?
We are home now so we’re going to inspect it more.

Does that shower have its own gray tank, which could possibly be full?

None, of the tanks were used except to brush teeth. We can’t do anything because the pipes are glued together so we just put it on the list for the dealer.
They wanted a 90 day check up with a list of repairs.

You may have a waterless trap that is installed backwards.

Could you follow up with the solution to the drain issue in case anyone else has this problem after you have it resolved.

I had a issue like this is our unit and it turned out the rubber boot was sucked up backwards plus the sawdust in it didn't help either, cleaned it out and all worked well but still had the factory give me a new drain valve. Good luck and yes please keep us posted.

That is called a waterless trap and all you need to do is run a peice of wood or small plastic pipe down the drain a bit to see if that will open up the drain. I’ve not seen many of these on shower drains to be honest. Mostly on outdoor kitchen sinks where room in at a min for clearance

I’ll go out and try it right now.
We did use a coat hanger and we hit something. So I’ll try something stronger.

So, I used a screw driver and it stops about 1” down and whatever I’m hitting is solid as a rock! I pushed and jammed it down but it didn’t budge.
We take it in on Thursday so I’ll let you guys know what they say.

If it’s only going down about an inch, you don’t have a trap there. You are probably hitting the bottom of a 1-1/2” ABS 90 which leads to a waterless trap. That is, unless there is a trap and something hard has gone down and stuck there. Have you shop vacuumed all of the water out of the shower? If so, what do you see down the drain?

I haven’t sucked all the water out of the drain. I’ll run out now and try it and take a pic.

Can I plug the shop vac into an inside outlet if I’m on shore power? Will I blow anything?

Clogged Shower Drain: Fixed
Same problem: simple solution. Our new Dynamax Isata came and, brand new, the shower would not drain. Based on comments, I stuck a small screwdriver about 2" down through the drain and it popped open the waterless drain. Took 10 seconds and works perfectly now.

No luck. I couldn’t get all the water out.
We have a few items on our list so the dealer can check it out.
Thanks for your help!

Here's a video of what you probably have:
You'll want to poke at it with something flexible, like a snake, not a screwdriver.

Thanks for the informative video on what a waterless trap is. I must have something very different? I can see a metal 'flap' 2" below the shower drain screen. I put water in the drain, it would not drain. Then I poked a screwdriver right on the metal flap, nudged it, and it opened, and all water drained. Turned the shower on and it drains perfectly. So others - please don't use my screwdriver solution unless you know what you are doing - it might not work for you.

I liked the video though!

OK. You might have one of these:
Waterless odour trapÂ*- KESSEL - Leading in drainage
