2nd weekend out in new Grey Wolf

Just got back from our second outing with the new rig. Camped with friends at Johnson's Shut-ins State Park, Lesterville, MO. and do they have a nice layout. This area was severely damaged a few years back when Taum Sauk reservoir failed and millions of gallons of water came roaring down the mountainside. It practically destroyed the main park area and left a huge boulder field. They relocated the campground and is it nice! Anyway, we stayed in loop 3 that only has electric (the other campers were a combination of GoldWing riders with small pop-ups. Man, they are neat. The campground offers all levels of sites and most have big concrete pads. So, needed to be near bathhouse, etc. Stopped to fill the tank in the park and as the tank got full water started pouring out from underneath. A look under revealed the factory didn't install the vent hose up to the fill panel. Not loose, just non-existent. Come on folks, this is not rocket science. Other than the sorry excuse for a radio and skeptical on the tv antenna performance it was a great weekend. 88 degrees May 4 for pete's sake. If you're looking for a neat place to stay and great place to play on the rocks and water, hike trails, etc. this is a great choice.

My vent hose was not installed either. I got the same surprise you did when I first filled it. I have since installed iy myself.

Did you pull the fill panel loose to feed it down to the l fitting? I'm thinking it would be cheaper to do it myself than drag it back to the dealer. I'm not sold on their capability since they couldn't even set up the hitch right.

Yep. Pulled the panel off and fished it through. Not a real big deal. Some hose and a couple clamps. I did't want to have to drive to the dealer just for this either.

If I remember right it was 1/2". It was the clear hose with the nylon cord re-enforcment in it.

Mine is also missing this vent / overflow hose...when I noticed it and mentioned it here many others have had the same issue.
It's on the list of 'fixes' before we venture out this year.

Other things new this year - roof vent covers so they can be left open and no rain will blow in, foam mattress topper, and gonna put a PC fan behind the fridge to add some cooling ventilation so the dometic van won't cycle so frequently (it's noisy at night - apparently the sensor is located improperly - and i'm not willing to make the trip(s) needed to get it fixed by the dealer)

I forgot to mention that when I pulled the water connection plate off to install the vent hose, the connection for the vent hose on the plate was filled full of caulking. This really made me wonder what the heck the deal was!

Your trailer looks great! Great pictures - really like the looks of your campsite. Wished we had more of those here in SoCal.

Wow too funny. Mine didn't have the vent hose installed either. Hope to get it installed this weekend before may long trip. If I do I'll post up some pics for all the others who need to do the same!

By the way glad to hear you enjoyed the new trailer. Looks like a pretty nice campground.

You guys need to be contacting your respecting dealers and the factory.
They need to know about these things so they can FIX the problem.
if they don't know about it how can they fix it for future buyers.

Nice camp ground! Might toodle down that way sometime!

Any corner they can cut that saves them a buck just helps their bottom line. This is more true in todays world than ever. I probably should have called the dealer but in my case the dealer is 180 miles away and decided to just do it myself. I don't have much faith in them anyway. Unless it is a serious problem, I would rather do it myself and know it's done right.

on the plate where you fill up your water tank is a small hole with a screen over it - this is the vent/overflow. I can access the other side of mine inside the bathroom cabinet under the sink- YMMV of course.

On the tank itself near the top edge, (under the trailer but near where the fill hose connects on the side) I have a hose barb on the tank with nothing attached.

Not sure pics would help much...hard to take pics of something that's not there...sorta like taking pictures of noises.

Canadian Camper. If you can see the end of the water tank underneath where the fill hose goes in look towards the top of the rank and you should see a black elbow fitting installed (hopefully) in the top end of the tank. There "should" be a hose coming off that tee and going up t o the fill panel. If not, join the "overflow running water" club. Pretty shabby work IMO!!
