30amp to 50amp

Wanting to camp at a campground we frequent from time to time but the only sites left are 50amp. Just want to make sure and hear from those that know...can I safely hook to a 50amp site with the proper 30amp to 50amp adapter without burning anything up on my Shamrock 233S. Does the adapter itself reduce the voltage to avoid damage to appliances/AC/slide and awning motors, etc.???
And what brand adapter do you recommend if one is more reliable than the others???

I have a dogbone adapter for hooking up to 50 amp service. In 8 years of camping with a fifth wheel I've only had to use it once. Most campgrounds that have 50 amp service will also have a 30 amp outlet. Many times they only list the 50 amp because they charge more for the site.

I think you're confusing amps with volts. It will still be 120v service so it won't damage any appliances. It you use too many amps it will trip your 30 amp circuit breaker. Just use your trailer like you normally do and you should be fine.

The 50 amp service only makes the extra 20 amps available should you need it. It will not damage anything.
I have a dog bone adapter as well and have used it a couple times already.

Gotcha...yes confused is right, increased amps to a "greenhorn" means increased voltage too...thought it made a difference...but thanx for the clarification.

Most campgrounds will loan you an adapter if they have to put you on
a 50 amp site. I said "most".
