5th Wheel Storage in Florida

Hello: This form has been so helpful for us!!
We are in our 4th year of snow birding from MN - so lucky this year considering the weather they are having.
We are considering leaving our RV in Florida instead of dragging back & forth. Of course it really worries us the heat etc.

Can you share best practices to store here? We are thinking of leaving at a new place & coming back in November & then home for the holidays & back again.
Thanks so much in advance & again.

Look for a storage facility with cover and electric (trickle charger) if possible. Big range in pricing available, but consider northern/middle part of the state for best pricing. Make sure your insurance is paid up as this is hurricane season. There are also high end storage - inside with electric.

Thanks for the reply. What about leaving it at the RV park? Seems like all the parks are offering these deals where you just leave it and use it for 6 months. We would probably come in November for awhile - go home for the holidays and then back until April. Doesn't seem like a very good idea but I think lots of folks must do this??

Looking for ideas & things that work & don't work.

Don't know how long you plan to keep your rig but the Florida sun will eventually ruin your roof. If you plan to keep it out in the weather maybe you want to to look into getting the FlexArmor done to yours. Lifetime warranty and they are headquartered in Green Cove Springs, Fl. Pull up the link and fill out the information and they will send you a quote.

Eastern Texas is like Florida. We tried storing our trailer at an RV park and quickly discovered that the sun was ruining our roof and the trailer was filled with dust when we went to check on it. So we put it in covered, locked, garage type storage and the roof is fine, but the dust still gets in. It's a bit on the pricey side, but so far it's worked for us.

If you decide to leave it in Florida, we suggest disconnecting the negative battery cable to keep the battery from running down. Trickle chargers are good, but unless you are there to check the water level, you run the risk of boiling the battery.

Some people cover their rigs, but again.... if you can't check on it, those covers can crack and blow off.
