Aintgotnun Motorcycle Accident

Greg called me earlier this evening and has had an accident. He sounded fine but looks like a bad broke left ankle.

He can correct me if I am wrong

5:07 pm CST
As I understand he was turning left and his left foot was not square on the board and hit the ground. His left foot was bent backwards and he knew something was wrong when he seen the angle of the foot.

He rode the bike to the side of the rode and eased it over and called for help. Transported by ambulance

9:44 pm CST

Another call on his way to the office to get some things to work from home with.

Left Ankle dislocated and two bone fragments and a plate needed to repair.

He still sounds great and I think I heard a surgery is scheduled for Wednesday.

My phone was running down and call was a bit hard to catch.

Thoughts and prayers for our friend.

OMG, I am so sorry Greg. My husband had to have a pin and plate
in his forearm some time ago. It's not a fun experience. Hope you
can have access to the internet so you can talk to us as soon as is
feasibly possble.
It has been a joy getting to know you and hope to hear from you
soon. God is with you and your family at this tragic time.

I can't wait to see how many posts there are and what they say when he's eating vicodin and drinking beer posting advice to all us newbies. I'm thinking maybe I'll take his new "tricks" like a grain of salt for a while.

Of course, Greg, if you'd like I could come on down and do the Major Payne technique and make you forget all about that pain in your ankle.

I replaced my boards with ther Kuryakyn Boards and was very happy with the grip/roominess. Highway pegs on the crash bar help too.

Talked to him again last night and he is in pain and bored. He does have surgery today on the ankle and I will try to get another update tonight.

Hey Greg,

Sorry to hear about your accident. This is not a permanent situation so hang in there. My prayers are with you. Even this shall pass. I'll be going through your state next week on my way to Colorado and know that I'll be thinking of you as I go through Dallas. Take care friend.

Cut and Paste from HDB about two hours ago

Hey folks,

Well I just got back from surgery having my left ankle put back together. Right now the pain isn’t too bad but I’m also still doped up.

Here’s what had happened. I was making a left turn (one that I make every day) and had the bike leaned over pretty good. My left toe was hanging off of the floorboard by a bit and caught the asphalt and did a 180 pointing in the direction that I didn’t want it to pointing. I did not loose control of the bike at any time but I definitely lost control of my ankle. I rode the bike to a near stop and hopped off to the right letting the bike drop in the grass median. I called 911 to have an ambulance dispatched to pick me up and take me to a hospital. After x-rays, it was revealed that it was dislocated and both bones were broken just above the ankle.

They sent me home because my ankle was pretty swollen and they didn’t want to operate while swollen. This has been a very long last few days as at times the pain was excruciating. I ended up going back to the ER last night because it hurt so bad.

Anyway……….. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers, I know they helped.

Ok so today is Thursday the day after surgery. Last night was pretty rough due to pain and fever. I was running a 102.8. Dizzy, nauseated, and all around felt like poopoo kaka. We called up the surgeon last night and he said to lay off of the narcs and go with some Aleave and Tylenol. That really helped. Fever went down and the pain started going down as well. I have an appt with the surgeon tomorrow for a follow up to find out just how long I’ll have this heavy dang boot on my foot. Bit of a PITA to get around with.
From what I gathered about the surgery, they placed a few screws and cabled the bones together. No plates as the breaks were far enough away from the ankle it worked out better that way.
I’m doing well and I appreciate your thoughts and prayers as I know they help.

Thanks Kim. I ran a landline to the bedroom so I could hook up my notebook. As for getting back to rolling on the scoot, that'll take awhile according to what the doc was saying before but I will know more tomorrow. 6-9 weeks with no weight bearing and then after that some PT to get into shape. May end up being 5 or 6 months before I can ride again

Such is life. At least this is all I did. It could have been worse. Had I lost control I could have been another stat for the lawmakers to play with.

And for all those who may question I was wearing my brain-bucket. I usually do.
