DW doesn't drive but we have a system and she likes stopping at rest areas better.
Measure the id of a rubber tire valve stem and install a the valve stem without the core in it and just remove the valve cap when pouring gas from it. Works like a charm.

Glad you enjoyed Alaska..we LOVE the state! We were stationed in Anchorage (Elmendorf AFB) for five years and, as a contractor, I worked at Fort Greely Alaska (Delta Junction) in 2008 and also flew all over Alaska from Anchorage to Bethel to Nome to Prudoe Bay up on the North Shore. And, yes, halibut fish is the best! We also drove the Alcan (Alaska/Canadian highway) up and down but were in a minivan and actually camped in a tent on the way down. (All the way from Alaska to our hometown in Maine!) THAT was an adventure!

The best seafood restaurant in Anchorage is on 4th Avenue called The Glacier Brewhouse. (I've seen people wait for 90 minutes to get in during the busy months.)

We have Alaska on our bucket list with the RV but will go after the crazy RV rush in MAY/JUNE and go in Sept/Oct when the Alcan roads are at their best and has fewer travelers as the kids are in school.

Spock: great wildlife pics. On the whale pic, did the guy in the little boat survive?

Alaska Trip just about over

We just got back from Alaska. We did a week at sea and a week land trip through a cruise line. It was AMAZING!! I will spend the rest of my life trying to get back there. A long rv trip to Alaska is now top of my bucket list! I'm 35 so I have a long way to go before I can take a full summer off to make the trip but I can't wait to get back there! Going soon. Then on the way back doing a part of Utah, Idaho, and Montana. Using a RV touring company. Really look into the different companies because they aren't all the same.

Thanks for the great report Spock123! We did a three week trip last year with a rented MH. We had a great time as you did. Did you take the boat trip out of Seward? We saw so much marine life on the tour. I hope to get back with my own trailer because we did not have enough time to explore the Kenai Peninsula. The Halibut is the best fish I have ever eaten. The crab legs we got in Fairbanks were the largest I had ever seen and deliscious.. Hope you make it back home safely.

Did the same a few years back. Things I'll never forget:
1. Wading in Prudhoe Bay - was going to take a swim but it started snowing! Everyone on our tour wanted a picture of me out in the water, my feet were numb by the time I got back on shore!
2. A huge calving of a glacier in Glacier Bay - rocked the cruise ship.
3. Catching and eating a couple of cut throat trout, chef did a great job preparing them.

Also thinking about driving back to see more of that great state.
