We came back from Ocean Lakes two weeks ago. It was great waits at Restaurants were up to 3 hours. State mandate they run at partial capacity....
Now
BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE............................ we have 72 cases of COVID 19 from our home area, people that just came back from Myrtle Beach ( Motels / Houses) since the weekend.
Our state health dept. is recommending 14 day quarantine upon return from Myrtle Beach. our West Virginia Neighbor...... Their Governor s talking about requiring testing upon return from Myrtle Beach.
Myrtle Beach is a Hot Spot just beware and be smart: distance and masks.

It is actually in High Point, NC, and is owned by the city. Wooded sites on the lake.

Have fun. We will be at OL next week and can’t wait.
Here’s an interactive map from Gas Buddy with user reported RV friendly fuel stations. I couldn’t find it on the app, so I bookmarked it.

Route suggestion

Plan on stopping in Winston Salem at a local campground to break up the trip.

I would like some ideas for a safer trip and things to lookout for as this is a first in a long time far away destination?
Thanks.

Route thought....
If you are on 501 passing through Aynor, I would suggest taking 22 going north towards N Myrtle Beach. Then hitting 31 south to 544. Adds a few miles but is much easier RV drive. Keeps you from going through Conway and the stop and go traffic. Then when you get about 2 miles from OL, get in the left lane as it goes directly into OL. If you have your express mirror tag, when you go straight, stay to the left to bypass the checkin and go straight to the guard shack. Have fun, we just left there. Ultimate California pizza is awesome and just outside the gate to the left and I second Lees Inlet in Murrells Inlet for dinner. Lemme know if you have any questions.

GPS
You mentioned waiting to buy a fancy gps.....good call! We upgraded to a fifth wheel last year and our first long trip included New York City. We were worried about height of the rig and low bridges. Spent the $$ and got the rand McNally which allows you to put in dimensions of rv etc. Complete waste of money we still use Apple or google maps.....I research ahead for stops etc. The rand McNally was a big disappointment and is not very user friendly.
Safe Travels!

Was able to put on spare and gat home replaced all tires with Herucle tires H901 14 ply when changing tire they found tires had liner separation in two tires these power king OE tires 10 ply were junk

Do they still hold the boat drags at Oak Hollow?
Born and raised down the road in Lexington. Old stomping grounds.

Don't think they still do it. I'm a native of High Point but now live just outside of Lexington at High Rock Lake. Plenty of boat and jet ski drag races here. LOL
