Almost got our new Forest River!

We went to pick up our new Flagstaff 21FBRS yesterday. We completed the PDI and orientation, but the dealer started stumbling on where we were with setting up the WDH. After an hour of hedging, they admitted they had failed to order it. We had to leave and drive the 2 hours home empty handed. I felt like the kid at Christmas who got new toys with no batteries! Hopefully we get it done this upcoming week. We have reservations on Thursday, but no trailer. I guess we could sleep in the back of the truck.

Sounds to me the dealer needs to reimburse for gas at least... If not refund your money on the WDH and give it to you free.
I'd at least fight for something!

Unacceptable. Find an an upgrade or after market item you want and let them know they need to throw it in.

My concern would be if they even know how to setup the WDH correctly. If it isn't set correctly it isn't worth the iron it made from.

The dealer should have gone to another dealer in the area and gotten another hitch for you while you waited.

Do not let your camping plans allow you to settle for less just to make the trip. Tell salesman " nevermind, I want my deposit back" and watch them squirm to make it right. You could end up with free stuff like EMS, tire covers, gps or other neat stuff.

What I'm having difficulty wrapping my mind around is a dealer that doesn't have weight distributing hitches in stock! Ditto on insisting on some compensation for your inconvenience and lost camping dates.

My thinking is what can I do to make my camping trip. Buy used WDH. Buy new WDH from another dealership. Rent a truck. Better yet, phone a good friend with a truck.

Make them give it to you and pay for campground payment or just forget the name dealer and get your money back.

As for setup it won't be right. Can't be as the trailer is unloaded and the minimum wage installer doesn't care. Will get you home but you'll need to properly install it when loaded for camping.

Sounds like a tiny, low volume dealer who doesn't understand business. Never ran the checklist before notifying you it was in.

Almost got our new Forest River!

When we bought our 2018 FR Legacy 38C there were several issues at orientation. After sending us home w/o our new coach i was upset.
After negotiating with dealer we left with in motion sat installedfor nothing!!!! Stand your ground and make them work for you.
Best of luck..
