Many state campgrounds do not allow it.

Depends on the campground. In 16 my campground was a drought. No washing allowed. 17 it rained and washing was allowed with a shutoff nozzle. It's on a well system. If your water supply is from a city or town probably not.

I've got to comment. most of the places we have stayed do not allow you to wash it. but they have no problem letting you hire a portable wash / wax service to do it. i wonder if the park gets a cut from the services. who knows?

I haven't had a problem using Meguiar's Ultimate Wash & Wax Anywhere. Spray it on, wipe it off with a micro fiber cloth, then wipe again with a clean, dry cloth to polish. Does a pretty good job. Though I wouldn't do that with really heavy dirt/mud...

I also wondered about why parks will not allow you to wash your rig, but will allow you to hire certain service providers to do so, so I started asking. Without fail, they all say the service providers are insured, and are more likely to not spray the other campers with water/chemicals or otherwise impinge on other folks camped adjacent.

At the FROG Rally in Goshen the "Detailers" bring in thier own water supply, having said that they use "Pressure Washers" and the Sites are very Close,Now use a Pressure Washer on a calm day and NOT get Drift is a "PIPE DREAM"! Just the Facts! Youroo!!

Agreed. But, I think the park managers were implying that since the detailers are insured/bonded, that if they do overspray someone, and that someone complains, the detailers get to perform a free one and the park doesn't have to get involved. Now if that really works that way, I don't know

Same here as far as most places don't allow it but if necessary, I might do some wiping down, or when we've driven a long distance during love bug season, we stop at a truck wash before going to the campground and do a good washing there so we are clean and shiny before getting to the campground and setting up.

That makes sense. I understand their concern over liability. Most places I go say "no washing" but I always assumed it was because they didn't want muddy ground.

Because of the nature of where most state park campgrounds are located, they are on a well. One person washing their RV is probably not an issue, but if many people did that they could have water problems or pressure problems at a minimum.

Our LA State parks do not allow the discharge of grey water onto the ground, so I would suppose washing your vehicle with soap would fall into those same rules.

As has been mentioned some do some do not allow washing. Best to check first. We stay mostly at a Mega Park and they do ........... but they have 850 plus sites and store probably 2000 plus campers .

Almost all campgrounds I've visited (commercial, state, federal) have rules. If those rules aren't printed somewhere then you can usually find them online. Just follow the rules of the campground you're at. Hopefully you're not one of those "rules don't apply in my situation" people.
