We will be at a camp site near Rexburg, Idaho. Other side of the country but with you in spirit. I've been looking forward to it for at least 20 years!

Thanks, good info.
After talking it over with the wife, we decided to just sit it out. I'd have to use 2 vacation days, and thats a 6 hour drive from our house. If there was more to do around there, I'd be interested, but I went to that same area last year, and besides fishing (which wasn't that great, caught nothing but carp) there wasn't anything.

The line of totality stretches all the way across the country from Oregon to South Carolina. Even if you can't travel, the rest of the country will get a good view of the sun partially eclipsed.

Headed to Carrollton, Missouri! They are having a 4 or 5 day celebration with it ending with the total eclipse which the actual center will only be 4 miles from town. 3 min and 37 secs of complete darkness. The last time they had a total eclipse in Carrollton was 1869 and the stories go from my great grandfather was that the chickens went to roost.

We heard about the eclipse just in the nick of time to book a site on the Oregon beach very near the center of the path (2:02 of total iirc). We kinda rushed into it. I have since realized what a chaotic pain in the rear it's going to be getting there and back and that I could stay right here at home and see 98% eclipse. Plus, the Oregon coast often has total cloud cover in the AM that time of year. Not certain we'll keep those reservations or not.

I'm the opposite, I could basically go outside to see it, but will be heading north or south to get away from the crowds.

I guess I could open the awning in the drive way and watch it. No need to go anywhere

Thanks to an earlier message on the forum (last month), we found SolarTown in eastern Oregon. We will be in an alfalfa field, marked off for RVs. And thanks again to that forum link, we will be very near the dead center line.
We heard later that the RV reservations went "faster than the total ellipse time". We are looking forward to the event.

We originally made plans to view the eclipse from about 200 meters south of the centerline on US-95. We have since learned that will be akin to a ZOO there!
We'll be sitting on my aunt and uncle's back deck sipping Bloody Marys. They're seven miles off the centerline, so we lose six seconds of totality, but at over two minutes, how will I be able to tell, or even care?
They're in Weiser, Idaho, and even have a 30-amp pedestal for RVs.
Good friends are joining us from Benson, AZ in their WanderLodge.
Got your safety glasses? Be SURE to use 'em!

Staying at Prairie Oasis RV Park in Henderson, NE...right in the path of totality. Spoke with the owner and there are a bunch of us setting up telescopes (me included) in a field they are setting aside for that purpose.
