I bet you will be the only one in the office. All the dental employees will be outside. You can bet, the world (area) will stop.

My 8" SCT may be too large. Even with a focal reducer, Im not certain I can get the entire solar disk in view at one time.

Keizer Oregon is home... 45th parallel and smack dab in the middle of totality...
it's getting crazy over here on the west coast.

Suppose you do all that planning and it is cloudy or it rains. But to each his own. Have fun

I've got several backup locations within two and a half hours drive either side of my current location just in case.

solar eclipes

I used a 8"SCT for the transit of Venus a few years back, and it filled the whole field of view using the 25mm eyepiece that came with it. If you have the 6.3 focal reducer it should help make it a little smaller. why not test it before Monday to get a idea of what it will take?

Because even if it doesn't work, its far too late to do anything about it before the eclipse.

I'll still get to enjoy the day with my daughter, and there is a huge Eclipse Festival taking place in Columbia with the profits going to various non-profit organizations.

We live about an hour north of Hopkinsville, KY (where totality) will be. There has been a lot of talk about the cardboard "eclipse certified" glasses. Apparently there have been a lot of them sold that do not meet the ISO standards.

Are your eclipse glasses safe? - Tri-State News, Weather & Sports

So if you have these glasses, you may want to check on the NASA web-site to make sure they are. Many school systems bought some of these non-certified glasses and have canceled eclipse viewing.

We are not in the area of totality, but our local TV meteorologist posted this last night.

We pull out in the morning, heading from central Texas to St Joseph MO. It's also our first long haul trip with the camper! Super excited, both for the eclipse and for the road trip!

We live in N.Ga. and we are not looking forward to all the traffic it will bring up here. Almost all of our roads around here are only two lane roads.

Good luck with that. 30,000 people will all have the same idea...at the same time. Can you say "Gridlock" ?

We will be at the airport there. I wanted to camp to avoid traffic but looks like you have to leave by 4 monday...not sure how they plan to get 5000+ cars down a 1 lane road and to the highway in 1.5hrs.

We are planning to drive to the airport early in the day. We have a reservation at a little RV park about 10 mi north. We booked it last September!

Already set up in cg in Sweetwater, TN. People are going nuts here! TN HP has flashing signs up warning people not to park on interstate or exits! Local are thinking roads will become parking lots, town is expecting 50,000 visitors. Will get out today for a bit, then hang out at cg till a Tuesday after traffic clears.
