AT&T Cellular internet service data SIM card

I need some help finding a reputable company selling AT&T data SIM cards with unlimited data. I have tried two companies in the past that have proved to be unreliable. Unfortunately I had to buy modems with the services so I now have 3 AT&T WiFi routes. One was a spare. At present I have no service. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Dennis

Why not buy from ATT directly? ATT has both corporate and 3rd party stores. Go to corporate stores. If that is not possible, call them. I found that the call in help are better trained that store help with special requests.

Thanks CC75
AT&T doesn’t offer that type service any longer. It’s all 3rd party now. I’m looking for a good 3rd party reseller. You can get a 10-18GB data card but it’s to expensive that way.

I don't know which companies you've tried, but both StraighTalk and Tracfone offer AT&T sim cards. (They are basically both Tracfone companies.)
As to performance, almost all companies now slow down your connection once you've downloaded a set amount of data. Straightalk is 25 GB a month with unlimited data, but is slows down after 25GB.
I've had good luck with Straightalk, but my phone has Verizon service.

Thanks snowbird I just need plan and I don’t think it can be a phone plan. I don’t know if a phone SIM card is the same as a router SIM card. The plans I’m looking at are in the $80-$120 a month range. My problem is finding a good company.

Frankly, I don't know. Couldn't hurt to ask. Both services have online chat that could help you.
I guess it depends on what you are trying to accomplish. If it's just internet access, you might be better off with a phone with a built-in hotspot.
Reliability is another issue. That depends on if you are stationary or on the road and changing locations and on your carrier. AT&T as a carrier has been a lot less reliable for me than Verizon. Nothing has proven reliable for us as we get further from cities and the interstates. We know many people who travel with two phones with hotspots - one Verizon, one AT&T

Are you trying to get cellular data on a non-phone device, such as a WiFi + cellular iPad? If so, consider T-Mobile. I pay $10 per 5GB. I have to renew every 2 months or so. My iPad is an AT&T model, but can take T-Mobile sim.

First, SIM cards are old technology. New phones will not have SIM cards and soon information on SIM cards will not transfer to a new phone. Meaning, you will have to reenter contacts and will manually upload pics.

We just purchased a new Samsung S20 cell phone and had to buy unlimited data from ATT to qualify for the discounted price???

I believe both Straight talk and Tracfone are cell plans only. I've heard they will cancel you if they catch you using your phone as a wifi hot spot.

I have heard of OTR mobile, don’t know if they’re good or bad. There was and maybe is netbuddy. I have been hanging on to my ATT grandfathered accounts, but many people have been shut down. They are only provider we have without satellite garbage and Musk promises.

I don't understand your problem. All the major carriers offer unlimited data plans. On the other hand, some people, for example, buy limited-use phones for their children and then buy a specific amount of data on SIM cards. Whenever I visit foreign countries, while still in the airport, I buy a loaded sim card, but that's because I certainly don't have accounts with foreign carriers. So, is that like what you are talking about? One added idea if you want to save money: My wife sells bread and bread making items to friends and family. So we've designated it a business (without incorporation), and then get a business plan (from our major carrier) for us with several of our children on it. Perfectly legitimate according to the carrier. Saves lots of money...enough to more than pay for unlimited data!

Check the OP post #1. I believe he needs a DATA hotspot not a cell plan. There are lots of cell plans, not so many data hotspot plans. Beyond that I'm clueless.

My router is a dual band WG3526. I have used data SIM cards from H2O, Ultra and AT&T. All worked very well, except for the AT&T which I had to take to the ATT store and have them convert the card from phone to data only. It took them less than two minutes to do it. They will try to sell you one for a phone, but insist on one for data only. These cards work fine, just expensive for the data. After spending loads of time perusing the internet and talking to different users, I finally found a source for an ATT card that offers unlimited data, respectable speed and no throttling. The account is set up through ATT, and billed from them. Try looking on eBay for data SIM cards.

As I am told, when TV switched to digital, it left the old lower frequency bands available. These were auctioned off to companies such as Verizon, ATT, T-moblile and are now used for 4G LTE data. These frequencies are too low to be used for 5G, but work just fine for 4G. Hope this helps.

Thanks stuart38npb I have looked on eBay. AT&T offers nothing like this anymore.
I’m looking for a reliable source. You tube has countless videos on the subject. And as KyDan posted and I will repeat I’m looking for a data plan for a hotspot/WiFi router. Nothing to do with a cell phone plan whosever.

I’m looking for the experience person here with a plan type I’m looking for. Verizon plan would also be ok at this point.

Thanks for all the responses.

I may be clueless too. My hotspot is a standard capability of my phone and most others. When I use the hotspot, it just uses the data that's on my phone plan.

Suggest you take a look at rvmobileinternet.com. They review devices and data plans and field test as well. They live in their RV, embrace the lifestyle and are quite comprehensive in their work. They may have a pay wall. After checking it out you can decide to subscribe or not. I find it quite worthwhile.

Thanks tps28ss, I have read through their site and it’s very informative. I was hoping someone on this site had some experience with a specific company they we happy with. I’m reading about Visible now but they seem only phone oriented. Apparently there are big differences between phone and route SIM cards.

I bought a 100GB "unlimited" plan from ATT for a phone. I got it up and running in an unlocked Moto G6 phone. I then pulled out the SIM and tried it in my Nighthawk. Worked. Then I stuck it in my MIMO cellular router from Outdoor Router. Worked there also. I don't think there is a difference in a phone SIM or a data device SIM.
SIM stands for
subscriber identity module.
