Question Attn: All 2014 Honda CRV Owners

We recently purchased a 2014 Honda CRV to tow 4 down behind our Georgetown. When we purchased the CRV the dealer only gave me one key/fob, and stated the original owner would be getting us the other key/fob in a week or 2. Got a call yesterday from the dealer and he stated the key was in and it could be picked up. However, the key was a "Valet" key; not a key/fob. So, my question is, did any of the CRV owners on the forum only get one Key/bob and a valet key, or did you get 2 key/fobs?

Thanks, Cover Dog. I met with the dealer today and they have agreed that we should have received another Key/fob. So, next week, they are going to make a new key/fob for us. BTW, the valet key did manually unlock the doors and start the engine.

I have not tried it in the door yet but it just goes into the ignition and will not turn.

Valet Key

My valet key works the doors and the ignition. I use it in the ignition while towing and lock the doors with the other key. I received two regular keys also and one valet key.

Valet Key

In our 2004 CRV we used the valet key to unlock the steering wheel only. It would not start the car due to the fact it had no chip attached. Did not like the idea of leaving a key in the car that could start the engine. If we stopped at a rest area just to run in for a quick pit stop did not worry about the key left in car. We would also lock the doors and leave the valet key in the ignition. Can do this by pulling the handle out, push down on the lock pin and close door. To unlock/open the door you have to use a key, clickers will not work when door is locked in this manner.

Ask the dealer to cut a "dummy key" for you also- one that just unlocks the doors and ignition but won't start the car. I usually charge $8 for it.
