awning clamps

Do the awning clamps do the job of keeping an awning from flapping during wind ? While looking at Camping world ad on line , i saw them , they are the ones that secure to the awning mid-way then velcro around the end support bars..

I think they help a little but if it's windy enough to really
flap my awning, I'm going to shut it.
Not so sure about any velcro attachments.
My previous awning had built on fairly solid
clamps that worked OK.

The clamps you describe work very well. In consistently high wind conditions, such as Myrtle Beach, SC, I use two per side. The potential downside is that if you have to get your awning down in a big hurry it takes a couple of extra minutes to get the clamps off.

I used the same ones when I had a manual awning. I was very satisfied with them. Use them along with these tie downs and your awning will do well in some fairly windy conditions.



You can find them at places like wal mart and online as well. RV Wholesalers have a good price on them. Here's a link;

As dimurrrw mentioned, it will take a couple of minutes to take them off which can seem forever if your in a hurry, but that's true with just about any awning de-flappers.

They don't work at all if you have the newer power awning. Power awnings do not have the support strut in the same location as the manual awnings.
